They aren’t being asked to play that way, but they aren’t being coached effectively enough to not play that way. They are semi competent footballers at a level decent enough to be able to do more than they are. The players are responsible but I’m sick of managers like conte and mourinho only choosing to own their successes. Potter isn’t saying oh well the Brighton boys actually listened and look at what I achieved there….Jose made a point of saying he's not telling them to play this way, Nuno said the same, as has Conte and now Stellini. Even Kane has on more than one occasion said it's not the managers asking them to drop deeper and deeper like they do. I've been banging this drum for a long long time but it's the players not trusting the back line, so they instead gravitate towards it to help out, but what then happens is the whole team end up there and they can't get out.
