p.s. Walking out of the station at Stratford and there's a poster from Newham Council pleading poverty, saying it needs to make £40-50m of cutbacks. Why give the Pikeys £40m towards the stadium then???
It needs investigating.

It's not that I wanted it so much as I think they've stolen it.

Exactly. I never wanted us to move there, but when the government is rolling out more enforced austerity to be giving over £700m worth of stadium effectively free to a club co-owned by a man worth £850m and chaired by a woman with very close ties to the government is utterly disgraceful.

Interesting to note how the Evening Standard, which is basically a mouthpiece for West Ham, doesn't have a link to the actual petition.

THIS!!!!! I worked in Newham in supported housing for 16-25yr olds, the funding has completely gone and now they all face eviction. Youth services and mental health services have been cut to the point of non existence yet the council give a premier lge football club ,owned by multi millionaires, £40mil!!!??? How is this going unopposed??

Signed.

It looks like you can only comment on the article directly if you are deluded, misinformed and a Wet Sham fan. They are spouting utter tripe. For your own sanity do not read below!

Singed.

I have no issue with the fact that West Ham got the stadium. However, the deal they have it under is awful and a complete mickey take. My tax money is being wasted - why should I pay for WestHams goal posts, corner flag or the policing of their football matches??

I doubt much will change but at least there is the start of a public outcry.

This isn't sour grapes on our part and I for one was always against moving to Stratford because we're a north London team not an east London club. We're getting, soon I hope, what we've long needed in a stadium that's big enough AND in Tottenham. What's not fair is we'll have to pay full price and our transfer budget will be reduced for a few years. They should pay a fair price too.
