Looking at the squad - who else do we need?

i think you're right van_Pommel, i'd also add O'Hara, Gilberto and Huddlestone to that list as i think they can be at least valuable squad members.

but i reckon we could see a very different midfield next season, it seems the defence is probably only one world class CB or a fit Ledley from being very strong now.

Obviously it's unlikely Gilberto will leave since he only joined in Jan. I think if we got the right offer for Huddle or O'Hara though they'd be off, not that I want them to.

You realistically think we could sign Alonso? Why?

Because Tribal says so

Seriously though he is struggling to get a regular game at Liverpool, certainly Mascherano and Gerrard are above him in the pecking order and Lucas has played more games then him this season.

He is too good to be a bit part player, um he is Spanish. I don't know if it is realistic really, just not completely far fetched.

I think we need another top centre half due to King and Woodys fitness problems = Jarque. also more than 4 centre mids as injuries and suspensions are inevitable plus Toni? How is he doing in germany. But apart from that a good squad Inoffmyleftshin

Very well—14 goals in 21 apps, joint top scorer in the Bundesliga. But whereas Alonso is by no means wishful thinking, Toni most certainly is.

Jesus Navas would be a good buy. Seen quite a bit of him and he seems a very fast tricky winger. Juande will know about him so i would nt be too shocked if we made a move

Clearly there are other squad players (Zoko, TT, LYP etc.), plus youngsters, I was just putting 2 for each position. I only put 3 for strikers because I went for Toni which is a bit unrealistic. That said there were rumours over here that he didn't really like the German lifestyle. Plus he is getting on and would likely be reasonably priced. However it is very very far fetched. Somebody like him or Van Horse would do the job, i.e. big strong focal point and can play with either or both Berba and Keane.

As for a defender I agree we would need someone else, but not sure Jarque is the man, besides I can live without if we can sort our midfield.

Except... young Jesus has a psychological disorder which makes it very difficult for him to leave the city of Sevilla and his family. It's so severe that it even threatens his Spanish international career.

Thats ok. We can just employ one of these bullshit 'mind coach' things that people on here seem to think are so good!

That will do the trick!

From wiki,

Navas suffers from chronic homesickness[1][2], to the extent that he has walked out of training camps within Spain because they were too far away from Seville. He also suffers from anxiety attacks and seizures. Navas initially refused to travel with Sevilla during pre-season to the United States due to his acute homesickness[3], later deciding that he would travel in a bid to rid himself of this condition.[4]

I'd have liked Lucarelli, but three years ago. Experience has shown that three top strikers are the most that can be handled, and, depending on the Berbatov situation, I'm perfectly happy with the three we have. Nor would I want us totally reliant on one, as Liverpool and the Arse are.

We know Ramos wants at least one new CM because of the efforts we made to sign Tiago in January. I'm pretty sure his dicking us around in January has taken him off the shopping list, and that we now have other targets, but I'm at a loss to understand the general enthusiasm for Poulsen. I haven't seen too much of him, but from what I have seen he's little more than a clogger. What does he offer other than the ability to kick people?

The last ten games are decision time for everyone.

Again i have seen a fair bit of Poulson and i too cant really see what the big deal about him is.
He seems just a 'Steady Eddie' type player no better that Tainio

Why not go a step further ?

Send him on one of those Moonie brainwashing holidays and he'll forget about Seville and that he even had an old family .

Hoping we can sign him and thinking we can sign him are completely different things. I'm sure this thread was 'what do we need' not 'who can we sign'.

Isn't Toni great to watch !

Big slightly aloof goal scoring machine . That sort of class will work anywhere .

Ask the Scots .
