Looking at the squad - who else do we need?

As for players i'd go for:

GK - Amelia (approx. £10m)

CB - Jarque (approx. £10m)

LM/CM - Joe Cole (approx. £20m)

CM - Diego (approx. £20m)

ST - Fred (approx. £15m)

I reckon that would get us where we need to go with a spend of about £75m. Of course we can sell on a few players and maybe get back something like £15m of that, so an outlay of approx. £60m this summer, which is completley reasonable and in-line with what we should spend this coming transfer window.

As for anyone (or is it just General Levy?) saying that Huddlestone is not going to be a great player - you are clearly not watching our games recently. The only thing he lacks from his game at the moment is pace and athleticism, but he can make his game work around the former (i.e. Carrick / Lampard) and build on the latter - something which i think he has already done a lot in the few months that Ramos has been with us.

I really am astonished that you have actually typed the above and you also think that it would be possible?

I bet you're awesome at Football Manager!:bs:

£7million for Robinson? £5.5 for Zokora? He's worth at least a tenner!

Seriously though, I doubt we would get half you have put for Robbo and Zokora. Also, isn't Chimbonda 30 later this year?

I disagree. Zokora would be well worth £5.5m to a team that play a 4-5-1. I'm also pretty sure someone would take a punt on Robbo. I mean, look how much we flogged Mido for...the price starts at about £7m for any decent premiership player these days.

gilberto is a left back

If he's considered left-back then he's the first one who scored a goal like his one last week. Sorry, but he's more of a winger, maybe I would even try him in the midle of the park.

Oh Yeah, Forssell is a good shout - when he isn't INJURED. All what we need is 2 good finnish injury-proned rotation players, just get Litmanen too and we'll win PL next year

Forssell on a free is a better forth choice striking option that what we have now, is it not?

I don't play Football Manager, but i'm sure i would be

Who said it would be possible? That's you talking buddy, i just would like to buy these players, but who knows what's possible, other than that we have been heavily linked with Amelia, Jarque and Fred, with Diego almost joining us once before, which leaves only Joe Cole, who may be the only one that is realistically a stretch too far.

We haven't seen Peckhart play yet, plus I'd rather see Taarabt given a proper run up front than Forssell to be honest. I'm not convinced Forssell would work with Bent either.

Todays Telegraph article is rather pertinent for this thread.

I wouldn't be against a complete squad overhaul. The only players I can see being completely safe are Berby(if he stays), Keane, Woody, King, Hutton and Bale. A completely new midfield is a possibility, if we can get the right players at the right price.

i think you're right van_Pommel, i'd also add O'Hara, Gilberto and Huddlestone to that list as i think they can be at least valuable squad members.

but i reckon we could see a very different midfield next season, it seems the defence is probably only one world class CB or a fit Ledley from being very strong now.

I had very high hopes about Pekhart, when he first came to us, especially when you consider his early achievements.

However, I fear that he just isn't going to make the step up needed. His current level seems to be stuck at Youth, because his opportunities in the Ressies haven't set the world alight.

Hopefully he might be a later developer, than first thought - but I have my doubts.
