I am of hte view that Robinson is good enough to maintain as our number one, but I would welcome any goalkeeper that is good enough to challenge for our number 1 spot. So a new goalkeeper is needed.

I would also like to see a better centre back to back up Woodgate/King - Dawson can do a job, Kaboul in time, but we need someone who can play at the consistant levels that Woodgate and King can - It is going to be a difficult task to get someone of this calibre who would be happy as a stand in though, so like the goalkeeper position, one centre back would be great.

Our midfield is key, it has improved under Ramos, but its still our weak link.
Jenas and Zoko have benefited from Ramos, hugely, but I would like to see a very good Defensive Midfielder come into the team and also an attacking midfielder with flair who has the ability to create. I would also love to see us get a new Right and Left Midfielder, ones that can run at defenders and deliver a decent ball. Left being the priority.

We do not need a new striker.

Goalkeeper
Centre Back
Right Midfielder
Defensive Midfielder
Attacking Midfielder
Left Midfielder

So thats 6 players I would love to see come in, but we are not going to get many players in thos positions from the PL that are going to improve us, so I guess majoirty would come from abroad, and then they would need to be given time to bed down into the team and to the way of english football.

Unfortunately, spurs fans can be an inpatient bunch ;)

Von Pommel has it spot on I think

What selling Jenas?

This is the most stupidest thing I have read in a long time; and is only being mentioned because he missed that penalty last night. Jenas is an excellent, proven, EPL midfielder, who has been nothing short of awesome since Ramos has taken over.

Imagine how good he would be if we bought an excellent compatible DCM?

Awsome's a stretch!

This is not a knee jerk reaction from last night, I dont do those. I have never really rated JJ all that much. As I said its not the physical or technical ability of JJ that I dont rate, its his brain. I dont believe he has the intelligence or, more importantly, the personality to take us forward. We need leader types in the midfield, Jenas often looks far too casual.

Jenas has been very good and in fact is generally very good for us anyway. The problem is that you only have room for 2 cm's in a 4-4-2 which means that the blend needs to be spot on. For instance, Hudds has great passing ability, I am not a fan by of his by the way, but he is also very slow which means that you then need another type of player to cover him.

Jenas has great energy and scores goals but he has a poor first touch and does not use the ball intelligently, in order to compensate for that lack of guile in advanced areas we need a player that can hold AND make clever passes if he is going to partner Jenas.

I think that is the reason that Ramos wants to big, mobile ball winners in there who can pass well but are not really creative, relying more on the strikers and wing play, it is because the blend is less complex.

To be honest, of the cm's we have I would suggest that Zokora has the most chance of playing regularly next season simply because he is alot steadier than the others and rarely makes mistakes with his short passing.

We need someone who can provide decent consistent free kicks! Over the past couple of matches so many of our crosses have not cleared the first man, maybe when Bale has returned this will change as his left peg is quality.

Now take Berbatov away and we stutter . The priority has to be to keep Berbatov as without him we aren't that great

But after last night we now have 3 months of meaningless football. I feel that our chances of keeping Berbatov, with Real, Inter, Barca, Juve and AC all retooling in the offseason, will be an impossible task now.

Real, Inter and Barca should be pretty happy with their striking options I would think. Jeve's a possibility. I can see AC having a go, unless the sign Sheva back. Berby and that Pato fella would be pretty frightning!

GK - ?
CB - Dani Jarque or Martin Caceres
MC - Diego, Hernanes, Lucho Gonzalez & Aaron Ramsey
LW - Damian Escudero & Diego Capel
ST - Rodrigo Palacio or sneaky bid for Cassano

You are probably right , Berbatov is not going to stay forever and now might be the right time to cash in , like Wenger did with Henri and Pires .

We only need to look down the road at the way he has created continuity . Can we find an Adebayor ? I'm not so sure .

We've been spoilt , in years to come we will be able to tell people that Berbatov played for Spurs in his prime .

If Berbatov leaves he leaves.May well in the longer term be beneficial to us if he does move elsewhere.

As for players i'd go for:

GK - Amelia (approx. £10m)

CB - Jarque (approx. £10m)

LM/CM - Joe Cole (approx. £20m)

CM - Diego (approx. £20m)

ST - Fred (approx. £15m)

I reckon that would get us where we need to go with a spend of about £75m. Of course we can sell on a few players and maybe get back something like £15m of that, so an outlay of approx. £60m this summer, which is completley reasonable and in-line with what we should spend this coming transfer window.

As for anyone (or is it just General Levy?) saying that Huddlestone is not going to be a great player - you are clearly not watching our games recently. The only thing he lacks from his game at the moment is pace and athleticism, but he can make his game work around the former (i.e. Carrick / Lampard) and build on the latter - something which i think he has already done a lot in the few months that Ramos has been with us.

The net outlay will be less if we sell Berbatov and get a cheaper replacement .

Joe Cole deserves to be in a Spurs shirt but should not be restricted to what he does at Chelsea . Match what Chelsea pay him and I reckon he'd come . Get Ashley Young and the three of them (including Lennon) can alternate and we can have someone who can change games to come off the bench .

EDIT , 4 including Bale , two good ones for each position .

Why do people think we would be after Diego? He's a #10. Juande doesn't play with #10's.

Very true.

Which is why I was amazed when Riquelme stated that we'd tried to sign him when Ramos took over, and before he managed to engineer his move back to Boca.

My gut instinct is that if we signed a #10, then we'd play a 4-2-3-1. In other words, 2 holding CMs, 2 wide attacking midfielders, and the #10 behind a lone out-and-out striker.

I definitely don't think Ramos would play Diego in CM in a 4-4-2, next to a holding CM. We'd be way too open...

What on earth makes you think he'd come to us? And what leads you to believe we'd ever be prepared to match Chelsea wages?

I also think a lot is going to depend on the current squad's level of performance over the remainder of the season, as Gus and Juande, and some of the players, have said.

We'll certainly be in the market for another keeper, but whether it's as No.1 or No.2 will definitely depend on Robbo's performances, and he is showing signs of getting back to his form of two seasons ago.

We're pretty well sorted for FBs, even if Lee and Chimbo are on their way out. I think a new CB is probably on the cards unless King makes a miracle recovery.

A LM would be nice but with Bale and Gilberto I'm not sure it's an absolute essential. It's at CM that I can see a definite new arrival, if not two. As for strikers, unless Berba decides to bugger off, I don't think there's any need at all.
