On the day he was officially hired I thought to myself that I hoped when he was replaced that he'd swallow his pride and take his old job back. He has turned our academy into one of the finest in England, and for that I will always be thankful to him.

No he hasn't.

Please read the various posts that have explained who is really responsible for the success of our youth system.

Agreed. We could have three big dudes in the middle that can muscle anyone off the ball, but if they can't maintain possession and integrate the attacking players, it means fuck all.

Surely you Can dominate with the ball with fast accurate passing and off it by pressing quickly like bayern barca and Liverpool do.

Oh? And what evidence can you provide to suggest he didn't have a significant role in adjusting the academy for the better?

Err.........the fact that the critical changes to our academy were implemented 4 years before Sherwood even returned to the club in a coaching capacity, I would imagine.

It's only over the past 3-4 years (prior to becoming first team manager in December) that Sherwood had responsibility for the development squad. And even that was dealing with youth graduates who had already been through the system. His role was to manage the transition between youth team football and senior football - not to scout or develop young players.

I did, as you'll note I gave you an "informative" a good fifteen minutes before your reply. Thanks though.

Once again, please pay attention to your alerts before you continue your purge of the ignorant.

Agreed with all except the final sentence.

I don't think the players we're currently producing are miles behind the young players that German clubs are producing. After all, our youth teams can go to international tournaments and beat teams from all over the world - including from Germany.

Where we're still failing by comparison to German clubs is in integrating our young players into the senior game.
I'm afraid you're wrong mate. We've taken our young teams to play in European tournaments many times. Bayern Munich and other German teams are miles ahead in player development. We've wiped the floor with Barcelona under 15s but the German teams always win the tournaments comfortably.

Because they keep selling his best players year after year and is a million miles behind bayern at present.
Having his best players sold out from under him? Oh, he'll just love Levy then... Lol

In all seriousness though - Dortmund didn't sell his best players, Bayern activitated Goetze's release fee, and they let Lewandowsi's contract run down rather than sell him earlier because they thought it would better for the team. Could you ever see Levy do that?

Interesting excerpt from that telegraph article. (Apologies if posted elsewhere)

"A number of Tottenham players are excited by the thought of 42-year-old Pochettino taking over, but fear Levy will ultimately try to get a big name."

Have to say it sounds rather shady about the players. I call bs from the journo there...

That story definitely didn't come from Pochettino's agent, not at all.....

I'm really not feeling the Pochettino link. Yes he is doing a decent job at Southampton but so did Nigel Aktins. Do we want him now? Let's not forget Pochettino got sacked as he didn't do that great in La Liga after a decent season. For me it's Lois Van Gaal and him only. I want massive experience taking over this spurs side and not some guy that might be good.
