Luka Modric says he does not expect to leave Tottenham during the January transfer window, but admits "everything is possible".
The Croatia midfielder, whose hopes of joining Chelsea in a £27m deal last summer were blocked by the Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, has recently been linked with Manchester United, and is still to sign the contract extension offered by Levy in September.

Asked about the ongoing speculation, Modric told Sportske Novosti: "All this talk is just in the press – I don't know anything about any of these supposed offers.

"We are doing our best to ensure Tottenham get the results the fans and the club demand. Given the current situation, and particularly given the fact I don't want a repeat of what I went through during the summer transfer window, I can say with almost 100% certainty that I'll be staying at Tottenham until the end of the season.

"I would always say that, theoretically, there is a small chance I could leave, if the club receive a suitable offer and it's one I wouldn't want to turn down, but the reality is that I expect to stay at Spurs until June, and then we will see.

"Everything is possible, but it's not something I'm concerning myself with. So long as I am fit and playing well, I'm happy just to see what happens. If I stay at Tottenham, nothing will change. I will give my all in every game."

Que the media speculation tht he is off in the summer, if we qaulify for the CL will he be happy to continue with us? Does he want a team more pushing for the title? Or is it all about the money for him, really hard guy to read I must say but I like him saying he wants the results the club and the fans demand.

To me he will be wanting to leave for pastures new at some point no matter what, just a feeling I get, would love him to declare his love for us and give us a bit more belief but I guess that is football atm.

United would probably be reluctant to splash out on another player from us now that we've bled them dry a couple of times now. And I can't see City needing him.

If he's going, abroad please.

Those quotes aren't that positive though, really doesn't sound like he wants to be here.

You ain't going no where mate. Don't sign a contract for better money until your age 30, if you don't want to honour it!!!

Glad we tied him down on a 6 year contract, we pretty much have him by the balls.

Hopefully, he can achieve all he wants at the mighty Spurs.

I'm glad he said this, maybe he understands that he was wrong to go about his business in such a way. I hope if we finish above Chelsea and not too far behind the winner (if we don't win it ourselves) and offer him a nice wage rise, he'll stay another year.

Seeing as he was speaking to a foreign reporter, I don't think his quotes are that bad at all.

I'm sure once we win the league and sign Higuain (I am not ITK!), he'll be alot more susceptible to staying. :)

With the team doing as well as it is I find it hard to understand why he can't just be happy here. We have a fantastic chance to finish ahead of Chelsea this season so I just can't understand why he would rather go there.

Real won't want him, and neither will Barca now that they've signed Fabregas. The only club I'm afraid of in this respect is Manure. Will they be willing to play hard ball with Levy again?

Luka Modrić: I don't intend to leave Spurs now. I'm certain we'll be playing CL next year.

Niko Kranjčar: I'm not leaving Spurs.

I doubt United will chase Luka. They've got plenty of midfielders, but right now most of them are injured. Can't see them trying to get Luka for big money just to cover a few injuries. Most United fans believe Cleverly will become better than Luka anyway (something I doubt, but by the looks of it he will one day be a top drawer player).

Can't see why Luka would like to play for Chelsea any longer, except for the money. If we qualify for the CL this season I'm sure he'd be more than happy to stay.

Top player and commitment has been awesome since those first two games.

Part of me hopes he is just angling for a new deal with this, if he wants to go again in the summer and we have finished where we are now then let him go and splash the cash, as many have mentioned his final third stats are not the best...there are players out there as intelligent and good at keeping and passing the ball who get more assists and goals

Hopefully VDV is telling him all about life on the bench at Real Madrid or he can chat with Torres about life on the bench at Chelsea or with Berbatov about not even getting on the bench at Utd...

So many examples that the grass isn't always greener on the other side. The money is better but any pro worth his salt would rather be playing in an exciting team like Spurs rather than sitting on the bench counting your money at another club

Man United couldn't afford Modric these days. Man City have blown transfer fees out of the window. They're a blessing in disguise "Citeh".

Comments seem a bit vague to me. He must know Levy will never ever sell in January so he could have just said if it was my decision i will stay at Spurs this season 100% which will make him look better as well rather then be a bit vague

Very true.

Sometimes a player just suits a club far more than he suits another.

I think playing staff wise we're in a better place than Chelsea. If we could get a bit closer to the wages they are able to offer in our current position we'd blow them out of the water.

And secure a couple of decent forwards on permanent deals.

Agreed. 110%. Not exactly a confidence filler of an interview.

I think that as one of the best midfielders in the world at the peak of his powers he would be crazy if he wasn't considering his options, but I really believe that if we are in the cl and have challenged for the league that he will stay.

I was reading on the scum forum yesterday and one them was saying that this is a massive year for us, if we don't qualify for the cl this year we will lose half of our team and he is right.

This year is crucial for the next 5-10 years of our club. We could build the stadim off of the back of our success as well as having a great squad.

Until we recompense Luka in line with the big earners in the League then he will always leave the door open for a potential move but as far as his ambitions go here then we can pretty much offer him as much as any other club in this country.

We have a young, vibrant and extremely talented bunch here at Spurs and the future is as bright as it's ever been so it really would have to be an offer that makes sense for both Modric and the club which in all likelihood would be Man City or Real Madrid.
