Top 4 + Harry staying at Spurs and you'd have to wonder why any of our players would be looking to leave?

If both of those things happen and Luka still wants to leave then it's obviously motivated by the money.

The ball is firmly in our court.

His heart isnt 100% at Tottenham. For this simple reason I believe we should accept offers of £30m upwards now. Or whatever sum Levy feels is suitable to the club of course. We're bigger than him end of.

1) In reply Id have to disagree that a £30m offer is "Perverse" what an odd choice of word? Id love to bleed them for a lot more but £30m is a hell of a lot of money and could be put straight back into the team.

2) In regards to what was discussed in the summer I couldnt care less about as I wasnt here then.

3) Let me make this clearer to you. I dont want Modric to go to Chelsea. Id prefer him to stay if he wants to. I cant forgive him for what he said in the summer but thats my problem.

1) Perverse in the wider sense of the word, in that Chelsea wanted their offer of £30 million plus Kalou to be perceived as worth £40 million and fees are always higher in the January transfer window, so to suggest accepting less and not considerably more seems perverse in the sense of being not very logical. Also, considering Levy had previously stated he wouldn't even pick the phone up regarding this player for less than £50 million, and that chelsea seriously disrupted the start to our season and we hold all of the cards, and that should give some idea of the type of price we should be looking at if there was absolutely no choice but to sell and to sell to Chelsea (which, thankfully, there is).

2) Slightly annoying attitude as you are making (sic.) me personally rehearse the same arguments again - except where in the Summer there was, at least, the rationale that Levy would eventually give in so we might as well get the money while we had a chance to spend, you don't even have that excuse.

3) I've just read your first post on the subject, again - it doesn't accord with this, at all. In your original post it almost sounds as though you would like Levy to initiate the sale, and to accept £30 million-ish without haggling. Your new version, 3, above, sounds like a bit more of a normal attitude (IMHO), but is most certainly very different in tone to your original post.

SSN get a collective stiffy during the transfer window

SC get a collective stiffy during the transfer window!

On Modders, he's not the character that I once thought he was. I thought that he was more intelligent and 'decent' than he now appears but you can't take away the fact that he's a very good pro (by all accounts).
If he still wants to go come June, fuck him and fuck whoever wants him - Levy'll see us right during any negotiations. We can't expect any player to feel like we do about our club.
"I'm not angry... just disappointed"!

Oh and SP, please stop trying to scare off new posters with your increasingly long-winded arguments.
Either that, or get a room the pair of you!

I couldn't give a fuck about Modric's heart being in it or not, he's a commercial asset contracted to this Club and has been performing very well on the pitch this season.

The one thing we can agree on is that his performances have been first class so even when the toys came out of the pram a little, missing the United game etc, he has still knuckled down and performed well since.

At the end of the day it doesn't matter what he says or what the media say, we'll control all of this because we hold the power given the length of his contract remaining, that is the single most important fact in all of this...not what comes out of his mouth or how the media spin it.

Feel better after saying that.

Yep, he's putting his own price up - in a way.

Not trying to scare anyone off...using reasoned argument to convince someone who holds illogical argument that argument is wrong.

What's the matter - struggle with any argument that goes beyond the rudiments of text speak

I'm sure you have the resistance of a particularly timid Italian milatary unit.

As for sweet talking...I'm sure a gob-stopper would be most apt.

You ain't going no where mate. Don't sign a contract for better money until your age 30, if you don't want to honour it!!!

Glad we tied him down on a 6 year contract, we pretty much have him by the balls.

Hopefully, he can achieve all he wants at the mighty Spurs.

He signed a 10 year contract at Zagreb, not to stay there for 10 years, but to aid them in getting the best deal. It's the same situation at Spurs unfortunately.

We cry about Sol Campbell, Modric is the opposite.

I don't think it is the same situation, Kendall.
Him and his advisors must surely have known that he would be leaving Zagreb sooner rather than later when he signed that contract. When he signed ours, their was no hint of his leaving and he repeating at the time, and frequently after, that he believed he could fulfill his footballing ambitions with us. They was no way he could have remotely suspected he could do that at Zagreb. His attitude changed when, let's face it, he was tapped-up on Chelsea's behalf - with tales of how much money he could earn at the corrugated shed people's pace.
