And starting with Ledley's testimonial.

Wouldn't surprise me if they put Kaka or Ronaldo in a Spurs shirt, and then us try to make a buck from it by selling shirts or posters, and we'd think of it like that one time Maradona played that one game in a Spurs shirt.

We missed him on Saturday, let's hope this means we get a replacement in sharpish, so that the impact of losing him in negated somewhat.

Very good player.

£33m apparently.

€40m. Not a bad face-saving fee. Would rather hope there's a clause or two that raises that by a couple more million or so but eh. Fuck off Luka. Very talented but a complete fuckbag. The epitome of a modern footballer.

jese rodriquez is supposed to be a next big thing at madrid.... winger type and we lack any sort of cover or competition for lennon.. get him in ...

partnership deal to soften the blow and extract some extra cash off madrid over next few year friendlies .. massive massive week for spurs..

My favourite player until he had hissy fits. However, his skills and talent will be missed but it was inevitable that he was going to go this time around.

Despite everything, I wish him well. He has been a joy to watch.

Now to spend that dosh wisely - another good midfield reader of the game (very unlikely to be of the same calibre as Modric), a sure-shot striker, a young goalie? Perhaps we can afford all three.

Given his connections to both clubs, were it to happen I think it'd more likely be a certain softly spoken lad from Essex with a golden right foot...

Would be awesome if Jonathan Woodgate played too, but then he gets taken off with an injury just for old times sake.

For those people who think Luka's move to RM is all about money, I'd like to provide a little bit different perspective.

At the beginning of his career, he wanted to play for Dinamo Zagreb, but he was famously loaned to Bosnian club, to tighten up, and later on he was loaned again to minor Croatian club, which was doing better then Dinamo at the time Luka played for them. The point is, Luka had to wait for bigger stage, rather unecessarly.

At the beginning of his national side career, he had to wait for proper chance, because of (sic) Kranjcar, who was rather shamelessly being pushed by his, at the time, father who was Croatia's manager. Anybody whos saw Modric against Argentina at his debut could see that he was an very, very special player but ... he had to wait again.

When he was ready to leave Dinamo, he had to wait again, because Dinamo sold Corluka to City, and they forced Luka to stay longer then necessary because of possible fans revolt. By the way, he had 10 year contract with Dinamo then, some people who think Luka was supposed to honour his contract at Spurs probably think Spurs shouldn't go after Luka because of his contract with Dinamo then, right? :)

And last year, he was made to wait again, in famous Chelsea saga. Luka is approaching 27 years, he feels this is his last chance for contract at the highest level, and I don't blame him for that. Personally, I would be glad if he remained at Spurs, because you could sense transformation into proper title contanders in the air around club, but ... mistakes were made, and even though recent yeras were succesful, they were certanly not as succesful as they could have been.

Personally, this is my last post here, and since I'm Croatian, and Luka is last Croatian gone from Spurs, I wan't follow Spurs as closely as I was before (I watched 95 pct of games via cable or stream). In that respect, you don't loose much because I'm not "proper" fan because I was here because of Luka, Corluka and Kranjcar, but I really learned to like this club and I wish you all best of luck and title in next couple of years.

I'll be keen to see what the first fruits of this partnership we see are, after selling them Modric for less than our valuation.
