Ancelotti is probably biggest Modric fan, he said he is more dynamic than Pirlo, think he'll stay there. If he leaves, it will probably be to ManUtd or some other big club.

100 mill plus Modric
85 mill plus Modric and Countrao
Spend some on Suarez

That's bale for Modric, Countrao and Suarez with money left.

What a deal

That's exactly how I would look to spend it/do the deal for Bale.

We'd be much stronger overall, with additional monies for Stadium planning.

Modric will be an important player for them, and althoguh there is this common vein of thoguht that he has been sidelined and benched and hasn't stepped up there, it was his first season and RM bought him with a few year plan to take over from Xabi Alonso (my guess).

He made some important appearances for them in the latter 1/2 of the season, and to think that they will be looking to move him on with Xabi now one year older is laughable imo.

Would prefer we chuck a load money at Inter for Kovacic. Not going to happen I know.

I've got it! £80mil plus Modric and Contreao. Swap Modric for Mata. Then buy Suarez.. (j/k)

Anyways if we're losing Bale which now I'm fairly certain we will then I wouldn't be against Modric but agree with most that I I'd be unsure he'd want to come back. But if he wanted to play here I'd be happy to have him.
I don't see Modric as a possibility really so give us Contreao and Jese and some crazy amount of cash.

I don't believe it's possible but if Madrid forced him out then I'd love to have him back. I'd say he's even improved since he left us, never gonna happen though.

Modric - Paulinho
Sandro
That would be the best midfield we've had for a long, long time. Only going to see it on FIFA though

I was thinking this but a central midfield options of Holtby, Modric, Dembele, Paulinho and Sandro is just ridiculous and unfair. It is so good I would sell Siggy and wouldnt even look for replacement and have bentaleb or Carroll as 6th choice.

I think if Dembele sorts out his fitness he could be better than Modric. He's ridiculously good at his best but the problem is that he seems to be playing with a couple of fitness issues.

Not sure about better than Modric, but I firmly believe we haven't seen the best of Dembele. Not just because of his injuries but bc of injuries to others.

All season we only lost 3 league games in which Dembele played for us, and two of those we lost after he was substituted out.

Dembele's a midfielder more suited to counter attacking, while AVB is getting us to play a possession based game. And he's been carrying injuries. Watch - I'm sure that when he gains his fitness, and with time getting used to AVB's style, that he'll be a top class player for us.

We were a much better team with Dembele in the side for sure. He is miles better than Huddlestone or Parker, so it's hardly a big surprise. As he gains fitness, if he gains fitness, will he learn to get his head up or will he continue to dribble the ball into blind avenues and then panic when he gets near to the box? He has some serious flaws to his game and he isn't close to Modric's class.

He's still our best option but I don't see him ever being better than Modric.

I think it would be catastrophic for club and player to reunite.

Great player? Sure. But there is a big enough cohort of our own that would never forgive and make the situation untenable. And so we would waste money and he would waste a year of his life.

Thanks for the time. No thanks for the exit. But otherwise, you a fairly minor caveat in our proud and long history. And we've already shown that we can prosper without him.

Are you sure you aren't talking about Parker haha?

I don't see Dembele as a headless chicken going forward at all. He needs to get used to playing against two banks of 4 sitting in front of him in my opinion which means a little bit more ingenuity, but at the moment he is the player who dictates our play. All of the midfielders we bought have had trouble adjusting to playing a possession-oriented game, against teams that sit deep, specifically Sigurdsson and Holtby. I'm confident that both will adjust, especially Holtby, and Dembele will too. Most of Dembele's best games came against the top teams, which is because he is given more space to operate, so I think he will learn to play better against teams that park the bus.

Parker does it too, but he doesn't have the ability of Dembele so it seems more understandable. But Dembele just doesn't play with his head up. He doesn't really have the passing vision of Modric and it's not really fair to judge him on that but it does frustrate the hell out of me when he hangs onto it for too long. I wouldn't say he was a headless chicken, i'd just say that he is a head down player whose strengths are beating a the man with ease in the midfield area but who then runs himself out of space rather than creating more space.

Cant see Ancelotti letting him go, hes their best CM and he knows it. Better than alonso khedira and illaremindi. Id say currently there are maybe 2/3 CMs in the world on his level

Not sure if this is a Modric or Dembele thread. Glad to see people understanding the reality that Dembele is not a Modric replacement after all the rubbish spouted last year about how incredible he was and basically could do everything better than Modric. Now I know that Modric left under a huge cloud but let's be a little more real in our comments...though is Bale leaves he will become the worst full back since Justin Edinburgh.

Anyway Modric has gone, he is not hear and I can't see him returning, so let's move on

Modric walked out on us....to take him back would emphasis why RM take our players at will..we must start acting like a big club, if someone walks out on us than we should have more about us than having them back when they are dumped....

Sheringham, Keane, Defoe and Kaboul are all players we have taken back after they left.
i don't think it really means that much.
