Yeah, its on the SC front page as well.

As I said in there, this story is actually from a few days ago before the deal was done. At the end of the day they accepted our terms and sold the player. He's a Lillywhite now, can't wait to see him in a couple of weeks!!!

"The negotiation with the Tottenham directors has been the hardest I have ever had to undergo in these 25 years."

I'm sorry but this just is not good. Speaks volumes (again) about the way Levy does business. I'm sure it's the same reason the Moutinho deal wasn't completed. When you agree a deal...honour it!!!

He had them over a barrel. There is no time for being nice in business. They were desperate for money

That's alright, wouldn't want any more of their players anyway (well, apart from Gourcuff).

How would you even know what the deal was, maybe he is bitter about losing his player?

Eh??? The way Levy does business is why we are fortunate enough to have the squad we do and be competing for a CL place.

Except Porto accepted our fee offer for Moutinho so it couldn't have been due to the way Levy does business. All the stories this morning allude to Porto pulling the plug on the deal. So when you say "when you agree a deal...honour it!"....this applies to Porto as well, yeah??

Those quotes were picked up before the deal was done, just Sky rehashing a story they already published.

A sports journo posted on twitter yesterday in response to this and said that the real issue is that the Lyon President has always been a tough negotiator who only ever wanted the price he set (Michael Essien to Chelsea a prime example) and has finally come up against someone even tougher.

As I said yesterday 'He pays what he wants, Daniel Levy, he pays what he wants'

And of course this has nothing to do with Lyon noticing we all of a sudden had £33m lying around. They're just trying to soften the blow of selling one of their best players for a relatively small fee by trying to paint us as some kind of dastardly villain. Do one, Aulas.

Mr Aulas likes to think of himself as some heavyweight negotiator doesnt he? Just Levy putting him in his place :ROFLMAO:

What goes around comes around. If we continue on this path sooner or later it's gonna bite us in the arse - clubs will stop doing business with us because of all the wrongs we have done to other clubs in the past.

Unlike 'Arry (who wasn't), Levy is the ultimate wheeler-dealer. He will always fight for the best possible deal for the club, whether buying or selling.

It's quite possible that some of his ancestors were market traders or barrow boys who did exactly the same thing on a smaller scale!

These people just aren't used to it and don't understand how it works.

This is NOT good? This is GREAT! It shows that our chairman isn't to be messed with. If they were so unwilling to do business, how come they sold us Lloris?

Yeah, that's right, Boris. Businessmen stop doing business because they've had their feelings hurt.

Maybe it became apparent to Levy, as negotiations progressed, that apart from knowing how desperate Lyon were to sell, that;
1. Tottenham was the only club Loris was willing to consider.
2. We were the only club who showed any serious interest in signing Loris.
3. Other clubs were interested, but their valuation was nowhere near our initial offer.

Any, or all, of the above situations could cause the original offer to be revisited.

I like Levy, and I am grateful for all he has done for the club - but he does have his shortfalls. When people allude to these, people get all defensive. It's been a poor window. All we've done is replace players (some excellent ones), but we haven't added to the squad - and I'm quite surprised more people aren't being critical (I dont mean being abusive or a twat about it) of Levy because of it.

Our season is down the toilet if Adebayor is injured. We're in trouble. If Defoe also becomes injured (even if he misses a couple of games while Ade is out, god forbid longer). We are fucked, completely fucked.

I want Champion's League football next season, and I don't think we've done enough to ensure we can really put in a sustained fight for it. Our 'insurance' would've been another striker.

Can I ask, Makka, if I offered you CL football next season and then Europa League football only for the following twenty, or no European football next season, but CL for 15 out of the folllowing 20 seasons, which would you take?
