I really dont want any of Citys rejects, if they buy Milner i think Ireland will go to Villa. We should be after players like Ozil, Jovetic, Turan,Gomez,
Badelj,Dzeko, Lukaku, not all of them i will add, dont really want to help City out

I'd take Adebayor, Richards & Ireland who would all improve our squad and not always sit on the bench.

but why would they help us out?

i just can't see it

I agree with this.
If I owned/managed Man City there is absolutely no way that I would sell or loan any of my players to Spurs who are essentially their nearest rival.
They don't need the money so why would they even contemplate sell/loan to us.

But if we're willing to pay a reasonable rate and noone else comes in for them then why not? They will literally be leaving millions of pounds on the table if they didn't deal. I know they are rich but they're not so much so that they'd ignore that much cash.

exactly stemark - i really don't get this idea that city will do any 'bargain deals' with us

but they are that rich - the money is effectively irrelevant - they want trophies/CL football

it's just like when chelsea hit the jackpot and a lot of people never grasped that one either

saying drogba wasn't worth x - they didn't care - they wanted the title - they got it and drogba was worth every overpriced penny to them

as i kept telling a lot of people at the time :)

My realistic signings (obviously Carlos Teves and Emmuael Adebayor would be tasty but not gonna happen!).

I think Santa Cruz could be a good addition, so long as he has got over his recent injury woes, he'd lead the line and link-up quite well.

Would also take Gareth Barry as he's a good all-round midfield who can do the defensive work, take corners, free kicks and a mean penalty.

Stephen Ireland is another quality player, really should be in their first team especially as is home grown and will always give them 100%.

If City left 12 players to rot instead of selling/loaning them to PL rivals how would City attract any other players in the future? If you were a player and saw a club doing that would you sign for them?

Additionally City have seen that even high profile fans like Ricky Hatton are not renewing their executive box because of the 11k increase. Are regular fans going to pay for star players like Ireland to rot in the abyss?

It may be monopoly money to the board at the moment but the realism will soon set in.

 i am giving a lot of rep tonight but that is totally deserved. Man City would be stupid to let all these players rot in the reserves. It will look very bad on the club to the outside world, to fellow professionals and no matter how rich these guys may be - they will not want to be forking out up to a million pound a week on wages for 10-15 players who are not eligible to play. They didnt make all their billions of pounds by being financially nieve, so i am pretty sure that wont change now.

Because 'round the corner' they may want to buy one of our players, and so, knowing this even 'may' happen they may be careful to not piss us off too much.

There, now I have offered you three seperate plausible explanations.

Perhaps all three are running concurrently...would that be a 4th:shrug:

because city won't do any favourable deals with us, IMHO

but they'll do deals with non-rivals - of which i've already listed a number of candidates

AFAIK city have sold more season tickets than ever

as long as city win trophies and get regular CL, the fans will be happy for a considerable time to come

sure after 5 years of domination over utd, some might get bored

but by then they'll have a whole new generation of glory hunters to replace the disaffected

anyway, time will tell as usual, i've made my call, i'm happy with it, we'll see what transpires beteween us and city

I think City wil be surprised at the numbe rof players who wil quite happily 'rot in the reserves' (sorry = Elite squad!) while picking up £100,000+ a week.

AKA the 'Winston Bogarde syndrome!!'

Look Citeh don't seem to have the chance to see the best of Santa Cruz. He has been injured a lot and in recent times the club moved on to a higher profile leaving him as a bit of a forgotten player. I feel that he could well with Defoe and would prefer him to Keane, Pav and Crouch. He is big and strong and holds the ball up better than the three mentioned....I'd like to see him come to us.

Was he fit at WC? Watched him in a few games and wasnt impressed tbh.

Incidentally my reasoning for the above is...

1. De Jong - An excellent midfielder. Probably at least on a par with Palacios and with experience at the highest level.

2. Bellamy - The sort of player we don't have. Can run the channels and gets a good number of goals/assists. Would also give us grit and again has experience at the top level.

3. Lescott/Kompany/Richards - We need centre back cover with Woody looking a goner and Ledley always a worry. All three are good players who've just been treated badly at City.

4. Ireland - Gets goals, runs at people and has a decent pass on him. Again a type of player we don't necessarily have and would be very useful in a 4-5-1. Potential temperament issues but Harry can deal with that.

Agree with this, though think Kompany/De Jong is wishful thinking. Not only are they unlikely to be up for grabs, they would also attract a large number of suitors meaning they'd be hard to land..As for the entire City wont sell to their rivals argument, they've prob got their heads so far up (oh well, you get the sentiment) that they dont consider us rivals any longer. They're going for the title, mind you

Who would we want from City?

It's obvious that City have to either sell or loan out some of their players in the next few weeks. They currently have a squad of 29 players over 21, so assuming that they bring in only 2 more players this window, they will need to loan or sell 6 players.

Their current squad is: Given, Richards, Bridge, Onuoha, Zabaleta, M Johnson, Ireland, Wright-Phillips, A Johnson, Taylor, Santa Cruz, Garrido, Boateng, Barry, Lescott, Silva, Vieira, Adebayor, K Touré, Etuhu, Tévez, Kompany, de Jong, Bellamy, Y Touré, Hart, Jô, Kolarov & Robinho

So then whittle that down by removing players they're not going to want to loose and you have:

Richards, Bridge, Onuoha, M Johnson, Ireland, Wright-Phillips, Santa Cruz, Barry, Etuhu, Bellamy, Jô & Robinho

Then taking into account they need to have 8 home grown players in their squad, even assuming that 1 of their 2 new players is home grown, they'll need to keep two of the home grown players from above by my count. Barry and Bridge seem the most likely to me, as Barry joined last season and Bridge definitely cares about money and not playing.

So available signings IMO are 6 players from these 10:

Richards
Onuoha
M Johnson
Ireland
Wright-Phillips
Santa Cruz
Etuhu
Bellamy

Robinho

If i was Mancini i'd be looking to loose only:

Onuoha
M Johnson
Wright-Phillips
Santa Cruz
Etuhu

None of which i'd want at Spurs.

Of course if they bring in more than two over 21 year old signings this window (not counting Balotelli as he's 19) then this may change, but for my money this is the list of players City will be looking to ship out.

So the point of all this. I'm really hoping that Harry isn't relying on City to provide us with a couple of great player loans.
