With Ndombele and Bale, you have to acknowledge that if the game went to extra time, they'd be fucked. So he's playing a set up it seems to where the team can go the distance with those two off the bench.

Now whether you're a genius or a moron depends on how the game goes, if we are still in it and can bring those 2 on to make the difference, it's a masterstroke, if we're 3-0 down by time we bring them on, then it was stupid.

I’m no fan of Winks but some of our worst performances this year have come when we’ve tried to fit both Ndombele and GLC into the starting XI. So I don’t mind that we’ve sacrificed one of them today, and Winks is much more comfortable with the ball than Sissoko so I’m ok with that.

As for Moura over Bale, which of those two is likely to offer Aurier more protection?

And for all Winks has stunk the place out this season, and he really has both on the pitch and with the ITK of bad attitude off it, I still maintain that he can be a decent footballer as long as he and Sissoko aren't on the pitch at the same time. Now it's time for him to prove it.
