Carabao account should be banned for putting the team sheet in numerical order rather than formational, and on top of that sin they go for numerical order and don't include numbers

I won't comment on the lineup. Just hope we're in it when it's Bale and Tanguy time in the second half.

Or maybe this is the formation. Aurier upfront, Son at right-back, Kane in a central midfield partnership with Dier, Pep never saw it coming. :cautious:

Considering our only stand out offensive player against Southampton was Bale, to not play him is criminal.
I’m sure the plan is to use him as a sub. I’d have started him too but he has to be accommodated given his lack of defensive work rate and maybe Mason thought we couldn’t afford to carry passengers (out of possession) against City. Coming on at the hour mark to run against tired legs is a different story.

The fact he’s been left out of our biggest game in 2 years says more about Ndombele than it does about Mason.

let’s be real - Tanguy has been going at%60 for months now. Can’t be carrying that in a final

Bale has to start for me, look at what he did to Liverpool in the CL final. Disappointed, at least hopefully he can make an impact coming off the bench.

Fuck being cautious, think our only hope is going toe to toe with them

You mean where he came off the bench and changed the game?

I don’t rate winks at all, but I can actually understand Masons thinking in switching him with Tanguy to start.
My issue isn't with Winks playing.

It's Lo Celso starting over Ndombele.

Disappointed he's not started Bale. We're almost accepting to go behind and need Bale to come on to rescue the game for us....

I get the selection, obviously wanted us to have the option to change things if we go behind.

Just hope we can keep it tight so any changes can attempt to win the game, if City dick us in the fist half, Bale and Ndombele will not be changing anything.

Still COYS!

Does Levy give every new manager the Men In Black neuraliser so they complete forget how utterly pony Harry Winks is, and that bringing him in in no way stiffens up the midfield?

If winks thinks he's the second coming of god footballing wise, he has to show it today.

No more hiding.

Couple of surprises maybe but let's be honest Winksy will be high as a kite, he'll be right up for this. We dropped Lucas for our last final which didn't do us any good did it,
we need to play as a team but players who can do something special will win this one for us and I count Lucas Moura in that group, maybe this will be his semifinal ?.

Feeling good about this.

A player who is still not fully match fit Lo celso, ahead of Lamela who is fit and in form. Coupled with Winks ahead of Ndombele. If I hadn't thrown in the towel already, I would have done it now!

I feel a bit for Lamela. Don’t think he has actually started or played much in a cup final for us. Would be the first name on the team sheet for me but my thinking is a bit more unconventional.

Winks in center, this isn’t going to end well, call me out at end if wrong by all means, proven wrong will mean we’re lifting cup so will take the hit. That decision just stinks to me as some sort of politics, jobs for the boys, whatever... as well as question marks over his attitude all season he’s been extremely poor most matches, I know Ndombele hasn’t been great lately but you have to start him over winks. The 20% I gave us goes down to about 5%. Just hope it’s not over by half time to give us a chance to change things at least. Come on Winks prove me wrong...

I love this XI. Pity for Bale of course, but we 100% needed more Lucas' work ethic and pressing in this game. Bale was the obvious "victim". And, contrary to what most think, Moura was pivotal in the turnaround against Soton.
Kane is not fit for 90 mins, and Bale can be a devastating sub if we are still in the game by then. Same with Lamela.
Ndombele did not deserve to start after is recent performances, especially vs Southampton. Nice to know that no one is automatic, and reserves (Winks) will be rewarded when they work well.
With that XI we can finish the game with an equally strong attack, even without Kane. Remember, five subs today. We ave Bale, Lamela, Ndombele, Dele, and Bergwijn on the bench.
Winks is a conservative choice, but he is good at controlling the pace and positioning himself between the ball and the defense. This is an underrated virtue in such games.
Lo Celso can pick a defense with a long through pass better than Ndombele. Plus, he is more of a fighter.
If only we had a solid defense. Having said that, it's a good thing that Mason picked an unchanged -and experienced- back four. Mou used to rotate it for no reason other than rotation.
Come on, lads, let's win this. It's only Manchester City.

Im ok with Winks over Ndombele. Will work harder. Just hope he doesn't go pushing anyone over or committing needless fouls around our box which has been his thing under Jose.
Surprised Bale is on the bench but understand it.
