This has been a hard watch. They are such an incredible footballing team. But when we get the ball we have to be better with it, otherwise this only ends one way. Somehow it’s 0-0 and we are still in it. 45 mins to make someone a hero and have an actual shot?

Funnily enough, I think there's a lack of urgency in City's game and that could be the chink in their armour.

For all their quality, possession and chances they probably should have created more and probably should have gone in at least one up.

Their pressing has been quality, mind you.

We could really do with a target man for these sorts of games. Llorente helped us out a few times, including against this lot before.

Anyway, still in it at half time!

Right that's the first job done, no goals in the first half, we are level.

Now we need to play a bit, I'd be happy to bring Lo Celso off for Tanguy as he is the only player we have who can beat a press.

We need to stop overplaying and being obsessed with playing from the back, Laporte should be off, put Son and Lucas to run past him.

Come on guys we can do it. COYS!

Mason said in his pre match comments that we should have believe. Instead we look fearful.
We are giving the ball away far to much in our final third.
Why are we trying toplay out from the back from goal kicks when we are so much pressure in our final third. With City having such a high line we have to be trying balls in behind, we have pace up front and we cannot play through them.
Lucas has been very poor. Hes just strolling about. He’s not helping out defensively. Aurier is being murdered by Sterling but getting very little help.

Bale on for GLC, shift Moura to the number 10 because he seems to have the beating of their CBs. Not really sure that any changes are going to make a difference though considering how far off the pace we are...

GLC off, Lamela on; go 4312 with Lamela dropping into the midfield three and Lucas behind Son and Kane. Have to consider taking off Reg, being close to a second yellow

Lamela and Bale on. Gio and Sonny off
Personally I’d not take Son off yet. His pace is beating folk on that side. Man City are drenching us with. But we’ve held it at 0-0. They’re an exceptional side; although I reckon a small change will niggle them. LaPorte will end on a red. Feck orf with the idiots on the panel

I would change formation to a 4-2-3-1. The 4-3-3 we're playing doesn't work. Put Moura centrally in the 4-2-3-1, with Lamela/Bale and Son on the wings. Lo Celso out.

Also if the wingers aren’t told to track back. Why are we not playing Bale?!!
Have you seen Son and Lucas? They have been tracking back all game.

So far, I would say this is going as well as we could expect. I am not embarrassed at all by the effort, nor the result of 0-0. Nobody gets awarded style points in this game - that was a Super League rule.

Lo Celso as well as Moura needs to run at them with the ball. Maybe Bale and Ndombele on later to do just that. However the weakness of our midfield to hold and pass the ball is all to obvious. To his credit that is probably why Ryan has gone with Winks and Lo Celso. But after a long period of continued change and not playing possession football we don’t have the ‘muscle memory’ to do this

Still 0-0 and we have a chance still to win

Overrun in the middle, i noticed Winks when we were in possession often hiding behind a city player not offering himself for the pass, makes it hard to get on front foot, that said half the time he’d have 3 city players near him, we’re overrun in midfield, would take Lucas off for Ndmobele or Lamela. Lloris motm so far.
