Mark Hughes is going to explode

What a brilliant match though, very exciting, shame it went down that stereotype route with the injury time board reading "however long it takes"

What a game though!.

Really at first where did the 4minutes come from.
Then another 2mins, lucky lucky.

Great goals from Owen and from Bellamy.

if that injury time was really 4 minutes then i am well impressed because my wife always gives me at least 4 minutes  i must be a stud

one has the feeling Mr Hughes is going to open a can of worms now he has the financial muscle to force an issue.

Can't say i'm at all surprised. The ref would probably have allowed another 45 mins injury time if it took that long for Man U to go in front.

seriously, this is so obvious it's actually pathetic. Reminds me of the two goals steve Bruce scored against Sheffield Wednesday (think they were 2-1 or 3-2 down after 90 mins). The ref allowed about 8 mins of injury time, during which Bruce equalised then got the winner. Oddly enough the ref blew the whistle almost immediately after Man U had gone in front. Hmmm

The goal after 5 and a half minutes today was a farce.

I mean its one thing giving a few seconds more, but once it his 4minutes 45 seconds he had to be blowing, and there were several attacks from then where he had oppotunities (when the ball was cleared into the air from defence).

Again like last week this is how Man Corp are going to win the title this season... bad defending from city but 2pts given by the ref no question.

I hope Hughes does make an issue of it because its becoming like African football.

I would have been livid if i was a City fan. It does show how corrupt the PL is. And then Ferguson and the fourth official have the nerve to have a laugh about it.

As it is, I had money on Man U winning

4mins injury time as City was scoring just before the 90mins mark

ManU didn't kick off untill 91:30 so there isabout 90 seconds, then ManU made a sub (Carrick for Anderson) so another 30seconds

4mins + 90seconds + 30 seconds = 6mins

I just saw this on the BBC website:

In the event, referee Martin Atkinson didn't blow the whistle until 96 minutes and 58 seconds were on the clock.

According to Sky it was 55 seconds between the ball crossing the line for Bellamy's equaliser and Man Utd kicking off again, so a minute and a half was very generous...

They also said the full time whistle was blown 16 seconds after Man City kicked off again... Going by the BBC's timings, that means there was 1 minute 14 seconds in between Owen scoring and Man City kicking off...

This point is quite interesting.

I felt that 6 mins was probably borderline right, because of the time between citys goal and the restart, plus the carrick sub just about warrented the time added on.

However, City didn't really get much time after Owen scored did they?

Don't see what the big deal is really.

Bellamy scored as the 4 minutes board went up, so it cannot be claimed the original 4 minutes was of any benefit to United.

Bellamy and the rest of them celebrated, United scored on 95 mins & 20 seconds, which is fair enough in my book.

City should have defended the goal better. Thats where the blame should lay.

I've seen 4 goals scored plenty of times in the 1st half but I can't ever recall 4 minutes added on to the end of the first half!

Refs do not add on 1 minute for every goal scored, if they did a 2nd half with 4 goals and 6 substitutions would see a minimum additional time of 7 minutes added, never seen it, ever.

So what? the 4 minutes didn't benefit United in the first instance anyway, it benefitted City as they were 1 down.

I agree with you, but there is no justification in adding on another minute for City's goal as normally officials just don't do this.

And of course next weekend when a team takes a minute or so celebrating a goal, the opposing team will insist time is added on for it...

In principle, if time is to be added on for celebrations that take up what is deemed to be excessive amounts of time, that's fair enough, it just has to be done across the board in every game, otherwise it's just yet another thing to cause controversy...
