So it doesn't matter who we're up against we're going for the jugular everytime.

What I liked was hearing about the evolution of his system with the wide players being the only fixed position and everyone else rotates. Also what with fullbacks being wasted when wide so they come inside and can get involved.
Interestingly he also said he doesn't like to mess around with the ball in the defensive third so I wonder how he felt about the crystal palace CB to GK to CB sequence.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

The key take away for me was Shakhtar and how he said the players were too focused on the time and the scoreline.

Side note, I enjoyed Rio in this very much. More stuff like this with managers would be great.

There's much more to us that there was to Bielsa's Leeds and I don't just mean in terms of quality.
We don't go man to man all over the pitch, there's a constant and high press of course but the movement of the players is so fluid, it makes it really hard for opponents to follow.
One minute Maddison is defending the edge of his box and Udogie is the farthest forward players, the next Porro or Sarr are up there and Deki is pressing in the middle.
Leeds were just hell for leather, whereas there's a lot more thought and strategy behind our style, or so it seems.

It does seem to be a type of 'total football' that Ange goes for. Yes it's high tempo, high up the pitch and aggressive but there's a lot more to it than that and that's why it's important that we continue to get him the type of players he wants.
Agreed. I always viewed Bielsa's methods as entertaining, but kamikaze-like. That is not the case with Ange.

It shows how good he is at getting that message into the players. I remember Jose used to suggest the players dropping off wasn't by instruction yet he couldnt change it. Mason obviously very young had difficulty trying to get them out of the habit when he filled in. I'm not sure how much Conte wanted us to play passive but again couldn't change things. The fact that we changed at half time against Shakhtar and already showed a different mentality shows the players get the message from Ange. He's obviously very good at changing the mentality.
