I’m sure he won’t by the time the seasons starts. Someone has to shift…Will be interesting to see which full backs he uses next season, as he's got 3 currently on each side

100% plus we all question whether the players we bring in are actually manager picks.Easy saying "trust the academy" but the older age group is not great because the academy has been neglected for quite a while, and under who's watch may add.
When you constantly change the direction of the club by employing managers with completely different philosophies you end up with a fucked up squad full of mismatched players, again under who's watch.
This is just lip service imo because he knows the hardcore want to see more home grown players but the fact is that's not going to solve our problems in the short term. Only spending money will!
He's just trying to push the blame away from himself once more.
"and more importantly, excited"Technically he didn't say "we will make you proud" he said "hopefully a team you can proud of". Bit of a difference. He isn't guaranteeing or promising it, but wants to do something to make us proud.
I'm actually fine with this if:
• You judge Ange on attacking football, movements, etc. and not results. The long contract is a good start
• Actions speak louder than words, would love to see our "back ups" be filled with young, hungry players that are signings and our academy. Example: If (BIG IF) we were to sign Maddison, his cup game/rotation player should be Devine. Just using an example but would love to see motivation for preseason for Parrott, Scarlett, Gil, Devine, Craig, Abbott, and co.
I get what people are saying about the state of the academy but the repair job needs to start somewhere. We’ve lost several youngsters because they saw no path to the first team, no hope of going on loan either.
We need to give talented youngsters a reason to come here and a reason to stay.
Well he did say it was an opportunity to set off in a new direction ………………… and play football!!Fully expected him to say "you wont see any more of that low-block, pragmatic shit whilst I'm here"
“Trust the academy” might be about convincing players like Mundle to stay by giving them game time - and seeing Madueke arrive at Chelsea. But equally the U21s got relegated, didn’t they?Easy saying "trust the academy" but the older age group is not great because the academy has been neglected for quite a while, and under who's watch may add.

The problem with this rhetoric he is giving, is that he is the cause of the poor recruitment himself.I think DL is right there..that we are paying the price for our bad recruitment.
I think we are still paying that price btw. Mac Allister for 35m vs Richy for 60m; just an example to show the gulf in our process. We have alot of catch-up to do off the field, not just on it.
I'm no Levy fan but you are going to extremes there which isn't fair. Why not compare the price paid for Macalister to what we paid for Bissouma?I think DL is right there..that we are paying the price for our bad recruitment.

We paid £25m for Bissouma while Utd got Eriksen for free.Mcallister had a release clause too.
I’m all for trusting the academy and having a style that runs through, but what trix is referring too, is our academy isn’t anywhere near where it should be due to years of mid-management, whilst we’ll see a kid bang in a hat trick or score a wonder goal in an u18 match, it’s still a million miles away from being first team ready.I think trust the academy means just that. It was reported that Conte had no interest in the academy. They didn't even play the same formation and tactics, as they knew that no matter how well players did, they wouldn't be breaking through. As a young player are you going to want to stick around when you could have an absolutely blinding season and the 1st team manager doesnt even know who you are?
Poch on the other hand wanted the academy to play the same systems and went to watch a lot of academy games, blooded skipp, winks, white and made Kane our main man.
For example, it is not beyond the realms of possibility that had Mundle had the minutes Richy had this season, he would have had a better output over the season. £60m saved there means we have more to spend on rebuilding other parts of the team.
The buck stops with him (DL), and his approval is likely needed for that type of outlay, so he is responsible. However I think the problem is deeper than that. The problem with this rhetoric he is giving, is that he is the cause of the poor recruitment himself.
No, the problem has been him.The buck stops with him (DL), and his approval is likely needed for that type of outlay, so he is responsible. However I think the problem is deeper than that.
Someone must have a copy of the minutesI thought we said we didn't want to rotate for the cups?
Yes you have a point. My straight thought was Richy-deal because to me this epitomises our recent transfer failures; and Richy's not even a complete flop like Ndom.I'm no Levy fan but you are going to extremes there which isn't fair. Why not compare the price paid for Macalister to what we paid for Bissouma?
oh yeah i agree he is responsible. Just don't think it's all on him.No, the problem has been him.
yes he has bought players, but usually those on offer, could make money, for the future etc, we’ve heard of his involvement so much.
so yeah, his fault, he is accountable
