Yeah, me too. There's a lot of talk about which players fit Ange's system but he just seems to be looking at them all individually and finding them a role.
It does feel like he's a bit more flexible - so has underlying principles around possession and attacking football but isn't set in stone about specific players for specific positions, which is nice.

Edit - he's obviously also on a charm offensive with fans, owners and players so time will tell of course!

A good press conference from Ange. Cannot remember the last time I warmed to a Spurs manager this early into the job.

Such a likeable and relatable guy: dry wit and also just a tone of realism.

I’m in it for the long haul and hopefully, the emphasis, on hopefully, the man gets backing. Whether he does or not we’ve got to get behind him.

I liked Poch straight away but I'd been watching him at Southampton and was impressed.

This is on another level though. He's just brilliant. I so hope it works.

I don't think the league has ever seen a manager with this sort of communication style. Honest, no hiding, saying it how it is, the unfiltered truth, no beating about the bush. Arguably, betraying 'party lines' or 'comms approved lines'. What makes it more impressive, is the way he subtly demeans his interlocutor at the same time. What we just heard from him was the truth. Told the fans, the hacks and the club what the situation is in one breath.

You’ve got to wonder if the Kane situation had an impact on who was willing to take on the job as Spurs boss.
So far Ange is playing a blinder on the PR front.
I know football is a global sport, but it’s great to have a guy who speaks English as his first language, and someone that speaks so well.
Also it’s impressive how quickly he has changed the style of the football. Obviously it’s far from perfect at the moment, and I expect us to get our fair share of hidings as we look likely to concede every game.
But I don’t feel losing Kane will effect him as much as it might other managers.
COYS!!

Is it a cunning plan?

I get the feeling that whilst any manager would love Kane to stay, Harry leaving is almost something that may relax him a little. There's no more "rush" for immediate results to get Harry happy enough to stay. The expectation will be substantially lower by the press and fans given Kane's departure too.

At the same time, and I don't say this as a petulant reaction to Harry leaving, I wonder whether Ange may secretly prefer a Richy up top to Harry. Someone hungry enough and perhaps fitter/more agile for the intense press that wouldn't really suit Kane's game.

Aussies aren’t for every1. However my favourite people on earth. Positive is the main thing. I do hope that Ange proves me right.

This man has a massive unit and balls. Every club he goes to he loses his best player(s) and still shits on the league.

He gives me confidence and joy to follow Spurs. So excited for this season and to see where he takes this team.

Whether we like it or not the managers these days are the mouthpieces of the club so the way they communicate has a huge impact on the fans and how we feel about the team and the club, hence the disconnect under Jose,Nuno,Conte etc.

Ange also clearly laying out that we basically assuming Kane would be going an have planned accordingly is music 🎶 to the ears of our fans.

It’s also why I’ve not bought into some on here who are so negative about absolutely everything as a default and just assume or infer that we have no plan or clue and that Levy is just permanently making bad decisions etc, I’ve said all summer that I think we have a plan, Ange is a big reason for that and that we will be ok, but hey some will just moan and see the negative in everything anyways and ignore the reality 🥱

Love that in this thread rather than the Kane and other threads that people are seeing the positives in Ange and our future :)

💯 Kane going will finally give certainty to the plan which Ange will welcome.

I suppose just like with the Levy / Enic out debate our fans have different breaking points and that moment of getting over the Kane move will sink in

Ange being the current mouthpiece of our club is refreshing, however, I feel it’s more than overdue that the Chairman addresses our fans on numerous issues in particular the vision of our club: unlikely but who knows.

The weird thing is that I’ve been expecting Kane to move on since post Jose and in particular that FA cup exit vs Everton.

We have good memories with Kane seeing him break records and sticking with us for as long as he did with this current ownership as well.

Now for Ange and for new memories which on a whole should be ones where we rekindle the narrative of I cannot wait for the next game! That’s where I’m at right now.

It’s very true, and as much as many will be negative about today, I actually think in a lot of ways today is a very helpful day.

We know where we are now, we know what pieces we are definitely working with and with a few weeks of the transfer window left there’s still chances to add.

Importantly though, Ange is close to knowing that everyone on that training pitch wants to be here, there may still be some outgoings of course but I feel like there’s actually a big weight that’s been lifted over the squad in many ways.

It’s can’t be easy playing and training when all the talk is about one person, and it’s there constantly, had Kane stayed we would have had this over us all season again, every conversation would have been about January, or next summer, as much as I wish we still had Kane up top, at least for Ange now this must feel very much like a clear deck and a proper beginning of an era.

Really really good press conference. He's the biggest positive at the club right now and I hope we the fans stick with him during the (inevitable) rough periods.

He's got something special about him.

I’ve not really studied him during any of the friendlies. Does he get excited pitch side and show any enthusiasm? He seems pretty chilled to me with the press which is great but I also love seeing the coach and the team blow up when we score.

Also seen people say that Levy fluked Ange because he was whatever choice, just because we waited until the season was over for Celtic to announce.

I believe Slot was sounded out, maybe even interviewed, but after interviewing both I fully believe that Ange was first choice.

Brentford's missing Toney. It doesn't come easier than this against them.

Most PL teams can counter. The bigger teams are better than us on the ball and can counter too.

I expect us to start this season terribly and hope that in time we can both defend and get better on the ball. Mid-table is where I think we will end up, so I'm not calling for Ange's head if we get torn apart; maybe except if we get done by a relegation-bound team.

All I'm saying is that until we look organized in defence, we won't be getting enough points. It's good that there is more hope going forwards, but this can't come at the expense of the defence.

Didn’t a toneyless Brentford beat us late last
