I don't want to see any posts calling him "tactically inept" when we have some dodgy periods. Or "doesn't have a plan B".

Easy to back a manager when things are going well.

The true test and mark of improvement will be in 10-20 games time when we’ve either kept steaming forward or hit a bumpy patch. Time will always tell.

This,

vonna be ups and downs, big thing for me, Mich more pleasing on the eye, we seem like an actual team (or moving towards one).

We would certainly play better but I still think Dier and Sanchez would be worth mistakes.

In fact, I reckon we would not have won today with a back four of Doherty, Dier, Sanchez and Sess because they still lack a lot of the qualities.

Van De Ven is streets ahead of Dier, he is proactive, cool head, can turn, good control and positioning. Dier shows weaknesses with these all the time.

The reason Conte came to the club was because we wanted to be ruthless and win, not play amazing football. Those who were good with Conte coming accepted that it was about 'winning' and not to see brilliant football.

It was wrong to think like that but I still maintain that Dier and co would cost us points no matter the system.

Anyway, it is time to look forward and be thankful we finally seem to be on the right path
I shuddered at this just now

Please please please Daniel Levy don't screw this man over this week

At least one back up centre back in with lots of pace and someone in the front three are absolute must.

If we get that as a minimum then I really think we could have a great season. There will certainly be some rocky results but we look an organised team with some stardust sprinkled over it.

I think the power dynamic at the club is already changing. Half a season of the way we’re playing and how he’s conducting himself in the media and Levy will be having to cede control to him in order to keep him.

I'm really starting to hate some of these "reporters" - the last question asked to Ange about Maddison was absolutely pointless and always, Ange handled it with class.

It’s another real stick or twist moment. Levy can take view that Ange has it under control after 3 games so why do more, or he can realize we have a real chance to be right in the thick of things and really push on if we properly support him. We ought to hand him the Kane $ and carte blanche to exclude excess players from the roster so he has the #s right.

This guy is the perfect fit for this club in every way. Back him back him back him.

I feel the most connected to him out of any manager since Venables. I loved Poch, Jol and Redknapp had a non smoke and mirrors charm but Postecoglu seems such a perfect fit for the club.

I see the opposite so far, I see a manager who sees the game well and makes changes accordingly. So far I feel he’s made the right pro-active subs at the right time in games. Sarr and Richy today, Son v Brentford etc. He doesn’t wait for things to happen - it’s so refreshing.

Yeah I'm referring more to the posters that are nowhere to be seen at the moment but as soon as we hit a rocky patch will be over every single thread with the old tired cliches.

Biggest compliment I can pay him is that I woke up with a dirty hangover this morning but was still genuinely excited to get up and watch our game today, and am already looking forward to the next game on Tuesday. Might not seem like much but after the last few years where matches became a chore that I was dreading, it feels so different now.

My concern with him had been that if we got off to a bad start then the media, fans and then eventually the players would turn quickly. Cheap option, not experienced enough to manage a Premier League side, how can you go from Celtic to Tottenham etc. I still think we're going to have an inconsistent first season, but it's good that he's laid down an early marker and is starting to earn respect.

Bigger tests to come though. Going top of the table will have eyes on us. More people watching how we play, studying for weaknesses in our game. An interesting few weeks ahead particularly the NLD in September

There's surely going to be a period where we go on a rocky run and get battered against a few clinical sides with our expansive style. But I think we'll recover it soon enough and at least now there are points on the board and already a belief that his style can translate to the PL.

We know we have deadwood that we need to shift, two of whom (Ndombele and Sanchez) stand us in at 100M. I get that is a hard loss to take, but I hope Levy seizes the moment and takes a view that Bissouma, Udogie, Sarr and even VDV are worth way more now then we paid for them, but it's like swings and roundabouts, so take the hit on a few players, get them out the door and free up places and wages for two or three new faces for Ange to work with.

Dier has a poor combination of lapses in concentration and next to no recovery pace. Sanchez at least has the latter. I'd be very surprised if Dier makes it in this Postecoglou side in any capacity.

I do think there's some revisionism going on re: Conte though. Yes his subs were shit but in his first season we played a lot of really good stuff and everyone seemed to be pulling in the right direction towards the end of the season. I think something happened last summer to piss him off, who knows what it was, but he was wrong to take it out on the players which he clearly did. The system barely changed and in fact we had better players, but clearly he'd done something to lose the players mentally.
