Well Lennon is a surprise and an underwhelming choice but thank god Lamela starts and we don't have two 'out and out' wingers which would have been a recipe for disaster.

Back four looks good and pleased with a central duo of compatriots Sandro and Paulinho although time will tell whether we should have played three in the middle or not but then Holtby will likely drop back anyhow.

I really like the look of this line up. City have the best squad in the league in my opinion, and we're really going to have to smash it to beat them today, but glad to see Lamela start. Townsend to come on and go direct around the 65-70th minute mark sounds like a good idea to me.

Sad that there is no Capoue though.

Some of you are absolutely relentless with your doom mongering, though it's oddly entertaining working out who's convinced we're going to get spanked the hardest.

Lennon's inclusion is baffling but AVB is finally starting to learn!

Kaboul, Sandro & Lamela in, Adebayor in the match day squad :hungry:

Nice to see several changes after our last defeat. Good looking team. It will be interesting to see how the wingers line up. I expect we'll see Lamela on the left and Lennon on the right but it could be the opposite.

I personally like the selection of Lennon. I want to see him running at the full back and pulling balls back for Soldado. That is the type of service Soldado needs.

surely everyone is happy with that lineup?

Townsend dropped, Lamela in. Sandro in the middle and Kaboul playing.

Its a forum select.

It's a shame vlad isn't fit to start. Other than that very pleased. Avb the bold. Good to see that he's not being stubborn either, 6 changes after a home defeat.
I see the argument for Townsend on the left but I think lennon's defensive duties go a long way with avb. Pace on the break also - it's a big pitch at city I think, could suit us.

there's always going to be good players missing out, it's why i've been saying spending a load of money on a left back would be irresponsible.
So the fact that we have good midfield players not getting a game means we shouldn't by a decent left back? - not sure I follow that
