Maybe we should get a thread in the daily Mail calling them a catalonian outpost
Not sure about Chelsea, much of their traditional fanbase is from south of the river though they obviously have a lot, Arsenal on the other ham may have even more than us, certainly no less.
I think the difference is that all other clubs are not hated by certain groups because of their connection to an ethnic or religious group nor have they all had their travelling fans attached with knives and baseball bats for that reason so its a sensitive issue.Bah, if they think the club has Jewish origins, I'm not really bothered. And Spurs is hated, but so all other football clubs in Europe.
This is not really a big deal to me.
Of course, you are correct about that.I think the difference is that all other clubs are not hated by certain groups because of their connection to an ethnic or religious group nor have they all had their travelling fans attached with knives and baseball bats for that reason so its a sensitive issue.
Hoping nobody takes offence, but I am not really seeing the problem? We most certainly do have a problem with being hated on for being percieved as a Jewish club .. it's just kind of a fact. Am i missing something?
the crux of it is, what the fuck does it have to do with us playing Real madrid?I may be reading this differently to others but I see it more as an attack on the likes of Chelsea and West Ham than it is on us, no...?
I read it as "Rival clubs hate Tottenham because of their Jewish origin", which makes our rivals look far worse than us.
Of course, you are correct about that.
But I don't really see what Marca did wrong?
Is Tottenham hated? Yes.
Is racism one of the reasons for the hate? Yes.
Is it OK to describe that hatred exactly for what is it? Yes.
Was Marca mistaken in calling it a Jewish origin? Yes.
Is it a big deal whether or not the origin actually was Jewish? No.
I don't interpret Marca as saying "what a nasty club we should hate", but "they are hated for motives of racism". In which case, that's just facts.
I agree, I don't think it was meant to insult or abuse at all, maybe just a bit misguided plus something was lost in translation.Of course, you are correct about that.

I read it as them implying that being Jewish is a problem... "Not intended to harm the image of Tottenham"... Why the fuck would having Jewish origins and fans harm the image of anything?
Nothing at all and it's stupid, I just think they've Google'd us or Wikipedia'd us or whatever, seen the Jewish roots mentioned, the controversies etc and tried to include it as it is a big part of our history.the crux of it is, what the fuck does it have to do with us playing Real madrid?

Marca are arseholes and it was an irrelevant point to bring up but I genuinely don't think they meant anything bad by it. Only they know, though.
