No reason it can't happen, if he doesn't have a place at bayern and the other giants (United, Chelsea, PSG, Juve etc) aren't interested then we're certainly at the top end of the remaining clubs, the other linked clubs are Dortmund and Liverpool and I don't really see him going back to Dortmund (he's really hated there)

Are this quotes from Ancellotti true? Because that's quite specific.
Can't say as I believe this is actually going to happen, but he is really the only type of player we are missing now, and if he really is leaving Bayern, why shouldn't we be looking. Someone to take the ball at the opposition and create openings.

Supposedly us and Borussia in the mix. Well Borussia do need to replace Mkhitaryan. Will Liverpool be out of contention now they have signed Mane, plus already have Coutinho and Firminho.

If this comes off I will get I Love Daniel Levy tattooed onto my cock, don't do this to ourselves, the idea of him coming here is laughable

Can't believe some of the evaluations of Gotze that I'm seeing in this thread.

There is a long history of brilliant players going to the likes of Madrid, Barca, Bayern and being lost in the mix because the quality across the squad is so ridiculously high.

I actually said this about 2 months ago, but it is very rare that a player of his quality becomes even a small possibility for us due to circumstances, and if the circumstances are there ( which they seem to be ), then it would be completely remiss of us to not at least dip our toes in and see what's up.

Yes, there is a high chance that another richer club will come in and blow us away, infact it is the probability, but until that happens then we have to at least have a small chance.

PL

Man Utd - no

Arsenal - Wenger loves to stockpile AMs but I think even he at this point would feel he has enough

Man City - maybe they would see a chance to drop the age of their squad, move on an older player and bring Gotze in

Chelsea - perhaps but they'd maybe need to move on an Oscar or someone like that.

Our possible gazumpers/competitors would be ...

PSG, Dortmund, Man City, Chelsea, Atletico and maybe Juve, Inter but he might not even fancy going to Serie A.

This transfer saga has gone on too long. We need to get him in NOW in order to stop Alex Pritchard from impressing the manager.

I can see it now:

Transfer Rumor: Tottenham in for Messi in a mega-deal!!

Spurs Supporter: Meh, we don't need any tax cheats here. Plus, did you see him miss that PK in the COPA finals? Its a pass for me.

Liverpool, Gotze is Klopp's prodigy, they can also pay him any wage he wants

Do you honestly see Gotze taking a £50k a week pay cut to come here?

Plus Chelsea would happily buy him to stop us getting him regardless of if he is needed or not

Of course the real irony here is that this entire story is probably bollocks, but you can guarantee that at some point this season, someone (or many someones) will point back to this story, and blame Levy for not signing Gotze as the reason the squad are struggling.

BM is quite cheese off with him bec he refuse an extension. Many bad press happens after that accusing him of not playing to expectation to being greedy. From what I had read, it is partly due to his relationship with Pep.... No communications and he becomes isolated in BM and his form suffered esp last year. He was also played out of position as false 9, LW & RW which compound to his poor form other than injury.

So in there is still a top player and he needs a reboot. He needs to go to a team that puts him as their main focus... Or at least the key players. Is he fitting our system approach? Debatable... Nonetheless a good upgrade.

There are 140,000 reasons a week why he will not be coming here

Levy will not pay anyone £140k a week

This is a RAWK level thread

Like I said, BM will be force to subsidise 1 yr of diff in wage while the balance we can offset via sign on fees which is part of the transfer fee.

It's a matter of total cost of ownership. It's how the deal is structured.

As much as I'd love the rumours to be true I can't help but think that Gotze is this year's Kaka.

Sorry but the sign on fee bit is asking us to believe all agents are idiots and won't be knocking on Levy's door asking for the same for their players. Money is money and if the other players agents see us paying large bonuses to supposedly stay within the wage structure they will want the same.
