Good man MJ, clearly loved us and our club. Interestingly the atmosphere at the Lane has never been the same since he left.

i loved martin jol. it was a sad day when he left (got sacked)

there ways about doing your business when your chairman of a football club, and going to spain to tap up other managers and leaking news that he had been sacked DURING a game is not 1 of them.

i so surprised that jol hasn't come out and slatted levy and co. if any of us were treated like that in our jobs we would be telling anyone that would listern how much of a **** our boss was

Must have such clauses in his severance package.

Anyway it is only correct that both sides show each other respect after the way this was played out in the press. I'm sure that both sides have plenty of laundry to be aired if they really wanted to but what would be the point and how would it help either party?

"I was disappointed before, that, you know, just after the summer, I couldn't get the one or two players I wanted, but that is old cows, you know..."

For those who don't know, "dragging old cows out of ditches" is a Dutch expression for resurrecting grievances. I had a Dutch girlfriend who would accuse me of this, on those rare occasions when I was foolish enough to try to defend myself ...

anyone who sees that video and doesnt have any feelings of regret or sadness, (regarless of the fact we have a better manager now,) is a dead-inside, husk of a human being, with cold blood running through their veins.

When he returns in the future at half-time i wish to goodness i will be there to hear the applause he gets! fucking loved the guy. He did very very well for us. However being critical ramos has done in half a season what jol couldn't in 3 1/2 win a trophy-some blame his tactical knowledge and the fact we threw away alot of leads against top sides in cups i.e chelsea FA cup etc etc but that could also be down to our shite defence and if we'd let jol bring in woodgate and hutton who knows. Anyway i'm happy we have ramos and poyet, they are class but will always love Martin jol and still miss him now!

We won't get as clsoe to 5th under Ramos as we did with Jol.. We'll look back at his time as a bit of a golden blip in our pursuit of mid table domination.

Eddie - what fantastic (and valuable) knowledge of local dialect! That's great! Thanks for sharing.

Such a decent bloke, really likeable and very professional. I hope he goes on to do great things. Maybe he will come back one day with another club, hopefully in champions league!

very very true :(
I miss Martin Jol as a personality and am so grateful to him for all he did to get us to 5th 2 seasons running - but we have the right people in charge now and we have the Carling Cup. We also do very well against the big sides.

As for the atmosphere - I agree that it has been pretty flat in last few games but that's more to do with pretty meaningless mid table end of season matches rather than Ramos / Jol being in charge. I seem to remember an electric atmosphere at the Lane for the Ar5ena1 match!

During those awful months of lies from the Board and the stress it must have caused him, MJ behaved with incredible dignity.

His leaving was inevitable but the manner in which it was done was reprehensible. I have the utmost respect for the man, while conceding that Ramos, as a manager/coach, is in a different class altogether and I think we're lucky to have him.

I REALLY miss BMJ! I know people always say there's no point, but he was such a great Manager, Ramos still doesn't do his own interviews and so I still don't feel like I can get any real feeling about the guy.

Jol loved Spurs, that much was obvious - it was more than a job to him. It's nice that BMJ still loves the fans, and I do genuinely hope that one day he will come back to the club as a top manager, and take us to greater places - people forget how much he did for our team!! We sat in 4th place for a VERY long time under Jol and we really started joining places.

Also, you don't see people posting about how much they want a Ramos hug!! ;-)

I love Martin Jol, Martin Jol loves me

really miss the guy. He had such a great affinity with the fans that few other managers can command. His last game in charge, when the rings of 'I love Martin Jol' started ringing out, will live long in the memory.

Yes he got compo, and his profile was raised, but it was clearly more than just a job to him to manage THFC.

Legend in my eyes. As Allygold would say, he got the cockeral crowing again!

I'm crying inside. I miss BMJ. He was treated so poorly.

I'm sure Ramos will do things with Spurs, but BMJ will always hold a very special place in my heart.
