Tottenham can't let treble chance slip through their hands - Martin Keown
TOTTENHAM must challenge hard and compete on all three fronts.

That is according to Arsenal legend Martin Keown.

Spurs are still involved in and could win a unique treble of Europa League, Premier League and FA Cup this season.

The north London outfit are just five points behind league leaders Leicester and are mounting their best title challenge in years.

Although this is unchartered territory for Spurs, Keown thinks the players can't let up.

"Tottenham have done so well to get here but it’s possible some of these players may never have this chance again," Keown said in a Q&A published on the Mail Online.

"It’s new territory and they have to take the chance because it might be the pinnacle. You never know what opportunities like this might come around again.

"That’s when it comes down to the manager to negotiate them through. It may be that in order to focus on the league he has to sacrifice one competition.

"But the way they beat Leicester after a replay in the FA Cup showed a great deal of squad depth.

"I remember saying earlier in the season that I wouldn’t discount Spurs. I’ve always felt they’ve had a soft centre but they have been defensively solid and excellent going forward.

"It will be interesting to see how they get on now because they have a fantastic opportunity."

As a pundit he really is pretty decent, it has to be said. It's not just this article, on MOTD he is usually complimentary about us.

I read this like he is having a bit of a dig at us e.g. will this chance come again etc. I found him an incredibly annoying player and as a pundit I still think he is an annoying gooner.

Wouldn't piss on the guy if he was on fire. Never trust anyone who looks like they got a snooker ball for an adams apple.

Nah, but seriously, what he's like as a pundit aside, he was one of those footballers I never did like and when he did that jumping into Van Nistelroy stuff, I took an instant dislike to the guy and its never really gone away. Its the same with Henry, every time I see him I think of that handball against Ireland. Both careers were so much more than what I remember them for but meh, gooner scum and all that.

I think the squad point is the key.

Many managers have tried rotating with varied success.

In the last couple of months we have rotated a lot but the quality of performance has been consistent. It really could be a big difference for us.

Him and Campbell coming out with talking about us. It's almost like Arsenal are worried about us!

To be brutally honest, I have been think the exact same thing - will Spurs get as realist a chance to win the title again?
Man City have a manager on his way out and an aguero injury from blowing hot and cold
Arsenal are as bigger chokers as us when it comes to blowing a strong position, and seem to be battling to score goals at the moment
Leicester is such an unknown almost uncharted team and what they've done so far is unimaginable going more than 2 points a game, but smart money would be on them running out of steam

Spurs are about glory, this is a massive opportunity for us, we have the right characters in our squad now let's fucken do this!

80 points is in our reach and I think this will win the title this year

they are trying to set us up for a potential fall, and some of our fans are joining in

we are only into yr 2 of the Poch project. Top 4 & CL for next season would be great, anything more is a bonus..

I thought you'd be all for it, didn't you predict us going for the title?
I did, but it was very tongue in cheek right at the start of all the optimism! Obviously if we did, in fact, win the title i'll be claiming that it was a deadly serious prediction! ;)

Seriously though, all this stuff just adds pressure on the young team and heightens fan expectations to the point that if we do end up pretty much exactly where most people said they'd be delighted at the end of the season (ie. top 4) it will still be a big disappointment to alot of people and will breed discontent

In the early stages of the cups we did but not that much in the league, now we are at the business end of the season, if we beat palace we are through to the FA cup quarter finals, in the Europa we have Florentina the best team needs to play our squad is not strong enough to rotate with so much at stake.

It's good that gooner pundits are now saying we can win the title etc., means they are worried about us. However, I think now more than ever we need to take it one game at a time and not heap even more pressure on the team.

COYS!

I am more annoyed about the times he dived against Spurs and got a penalty or tried to get one (Arsenal in those days serious were the best "actors" in the EPL and they are now paying the karmic price for that). Thus said, he was the best EPL CF ever (so far)....and I think that is the root cause of him being so "disliked" as well as his comments about Spurs both during and after his Arsenal career

Obviously it's great if we can go undetected in the media and Leicester have helped us massively with that but people need to not get so pissed off when stuff like this is suggested. We should all deep down be secretly thinking we can do the treble then win the world cup otherwise what's the point in even supporting a team. Keown is right how often do these seasons happen we should milk it and enjoy it for all it's worth not get agg because somebody suggested it in the paper.
