Seems a strange answer to the questions I asked you.

Ummm, you said that Bale took a while to develop, I told you that when he was Mason's age he was already one of the best players in the world. You asked what I thought about Kane in his early days, I told you he is 2 years Mason's junior...I don't see whats strange? Unless you just don't have anything else to say?

I never asked you what Bale was like at 24 or asked you how old Kane was though did I? I guess it's you that has nothing else to say

Yet he was pretty much our best player today

Couldn't agree more, he was outstanding today, just as he was outstanding on occasions last season. It's the other 80% of shite that makes me think he's not good enough. The same goes with Bentaleb. Just like I said, they get a pass because they came through the academy.

Ever considered that players develop over a period of time? Was Bale the same player he was in his first game for us as he was in his last game? What were your early thoughts on Kane?

Mason is 24 years old. I think you'll agree that Bale was far more advanced in his development at the same age, no? Kane is 22...

Obviously I need to walk you through this...it's ok. Bale was obviously a vastly improved player from when he arrived. He was what...17 when he arrived? He had then become world class by the age of 24. Mason is currently 24, my point being that Mason probably won't improve an awful lot due to him being at/near his peak anyway. It's literally rocket science, don't worry about it.

Mason has also had a lot of injuries that have hindered him.

Without these injuries he would be a lot more advanced.

Yeah, I'm aware he had a tough time of it in terms of injury hindering his development. I actually don't think he's a bad player, I just don't think that he's the quality that we require in that position at the moment, and unfortunately due to his age I don't think there is a huge amount of potential to tap into.

I'll give some better examples.

Ricky Lambert didn't play in the Premier League until he was 30. He earned an England call up and a move to Liverpool.
Ian Wright never signed a professional contract until he was almost 22.
Jay DeMerit was playing non-league football at 24, he eventually played in a World Cup.
Emanuele Giaccherini, much like Mason, was playing in the 3rd division at 23. He went on to be signed by Juventus.
Jamie Vardy of Leicester was playing in the 5th tier of English football at 24.

I'm all for producing our own players, I think it's marvellous. That doesn't stop me voicing my opinion when I don't believe somebody is good enough for us. We need to be careful in that whilst we need to give these kids a chance and plan for the future, we don't sacrifice short term chances of success. Players from the academy should be bled in amongst seasoned pro's. What is Bentaleb going to learn from Mason, what is Mason going to learn from Carroll and so on and so on. If we had an old head in there who could give these guys a helping hand then it would be better for everybody concerned.

we need another midfielder, or two. We sold 3. Not knocking any player at the club, but we are in deep doo-doo if this is the squad on September 2. There just arent enough options.

Ha not a single person has Mason before bentaleb pre season. It was bentaleb and a new player. Now after one game it's goodbye bentaleb, let's get someone to play with Mason. Hilarious

4-3-3 is the way to go, as someone else said earlier.

Dier/Toby as DM. Mason and Alli (best form) as roaming CMs. Width from the full backs.

Obvious issue today was when Stoke put us under pressure down our right our defensive CM was playing on the left side. Walker screamed for cover after Ireland came on.

4-3-3 is just more flexible and you don't need your AMs covering your full backs.

I'm hoping that signing the likes of N'Jie who prefers to play as a WF will help move us towards this. Eriksen should try dropping back a bit, I reckon with a bit of discipline he could do great in a Pirlo/Xavi role as long as we have a good tackler out of the 3.
