Anyone watching SkySports 1 where match is on NOW, who can comment ?

Had it on in the background whilst doing other stuff around the house so wouldn't feel it fair to comment. Although all 3 players were playing first team football I am not sure the benefit of playing at League One level not to mention that the pitch was pretty awful.

Watched the game.

Byrne really struggled at right back I thought, he was up against a tricky player, looked nervous for a lot of the game.

Massimo was composed on the ball, very strong, but didn't get control enough of the game, mainly due to too many long balls.
Doncaster played very direct, bypassing him a lot.

Parrett had some good long shots, needs to work on his final ball, he got into space well but wasn't given the ball on some occasions, sure that will come in time once the other players get used to how he plays, can be said for all three really.

It was a difficult game away to Doncaster who are right up in the league and the pitch was abysmal.

I disagree. I thought he was pretty comfortably in difficulty circumstances. As you said, he was up against tricky opposition, but got forward well, put in a handful of dangerous crosses and defended stoutly. The commentators said (around the 60th minute) they thought that though there weren't too many candidates for man of the match, that Byrne was as good as anyone on the pitch and deserved consideration. Actually, they kept going on about him.

Luongo, as you said, didn't see much of the ball. He played safe sideways passes when he did get on the ball, for the most part.

Parrett looked lively but aside from a few long range efforts, didn't do much at all.

None of the 3 looked out of their depth, and I would say that of the 3, Byrne had the best game.

Decent review from a poster off another site :
Watched most of the Swindon game on the telly against Doncaster. Pitch was awful given the rugby league played on it and DOncaster are top of the league so not an easy game for our 3 loanees. Brief summary of how I thought our guys did:

- Byrne: thought he did ok though seemed as though the guys up against him were trying to get physical with him at every opportunity. Really did look like a kid playing in a man's game the way he was being muscled. Got forward on a couple occassions though and put decent crosses in - whipped and with pace. DOesnt look close to being ready for challenging for first team football and Smith appears a better bet to me

- Luongo: the pick of our players by a distance and better than most on the pitch - thought he looked excellent and too good for league 1. Looks to have a very solid all round game: very composed on the ball and decent feet whilst he also made one goal saving tackle in teh second half. Has the physical presence, strength and energy too, even though in theory he's still young. This guy has to be above livermore in the pecking order next season - can see him having a very decent future. Very impressive

- Parrett: slightly peripheral in the game though they were playing him in one of the forward positions of a 4-3-3 which I'm not sure is his best position. That said, I dont think he can play in midfield in a 4-4-2 at the moment as he seems to be too easily shaken of the ball, rather than potecting it. He got on the ball 3 or 4 times and went on decent runs - has very quick feet and quite pacy for someone who isnt an out and out winger or CF. Got a couple shots in in the first half though was quieter in the second and taken off with 10 mins to go. Perhaps if we end up playing 4-3-3 at all levels then he has the chance of having a future but better as one of the midfield 3 and would need the right type of player next to him. He does clearly have some talent on the ball and is a good dribbler but I dont think he makes the most of it and is already 21

If it was Swindon's decision then it doesnt look good.

If we had some input I would think its because he was a senior u21 player who had reportedly done very well this season and could could be considered cover for our injury problems

could well be terribly wrong though

Comments from a swindon forum (who have in turn taken some comments from twitter):

My understanding is that Parrett's general performances and application were not of MacDonald's required levels. #stfc

Parrett was sent back early from loan spell at Yeovil once. Again, reasons not clearly given but local media believed it was about attitude.

He'd have made an amazing false number 9.

I would have been happier if he at least looked interested. No loss at all from what I've seen.

The general thoughts seem to be that we may have had some condition in the loan contract that he has to get game time, and that the manager thought other players were better.
