Jenas is an average player. at the best of times. and it just goes to show how 'sad' we now are these days! Until we 'employ' an adequet 'midfield general', who will boss the midfield, we are going nowhere....just another English team playing dull English style POOCH BALL and reaping the same rewards as the other DULL English teams! That said, we are in a sad position and nowhere near top 4, even top 10 is beyond us after today! COYS!

Exactly.

Given the futile midfield, it's not that difficult to isolate the strikers from the game, especially if Berbatov is not on his day.

BTW, Berbatov won't play at his best till the second week of February. Not because he doesn't want to.

But Berbatov's main strength is bringing down the long ball and bringing others into play, so the midfield shouldnt really make a difference to his performance. At the end of the day, Berbatov doesnt give a toss and i hope Bent is given a chance when he's fit as im getting fed up of Berbatov embarrasing us as a club with his lack of effort/disgraceful attitude towards his teamates.

I can't agree with this when his teammate give the oppositiob a space to shot. It was clear invitition by Boateng

Its been happening all season, and probably last, but thats not stoped many putting the balme of robbo

I would say this was not Cerny's fault . This very powerful shot was RIGHT in the angle of post and bar .

It could not have been bettered .

Bad positioning? or is he fat as well and unable to get across his goals?

Not very good at all.

We started Ok and somehow found ourselves 1-0 down at a point where the Chavs hadn't had 1 single attack of note.

2nd half I thought that we started poorly and funnily enough we strangely picked up and looked the much better side for 15 minutes after Taarabt replaced Steed. I say strangely because Taarabt really didn't play well but we suddenly looked the better side.

Felt a bit for Berba as he had no decent serviceand might as well have played up on his own as his supposed partner was AWOL from the 1st minute to the last minute.

Put quite simply we wern't good enough in central midfield (boy how we missed JJ), we never closed down Beletti for the 1st goal and we created very little.

Cerny-6-No blame for either goal, and apart from 1 early flap done ok

Chimbo-6-Done OK against Malouda

Daws-6- again OK, fluffed 1 clearance that Anelka smashed against the bar, other than that done pretty well.

King-7-Our top man, confident assured and been badly missed

Lee-6-Joe Cole started brightly and I was concerned he was going to give Lee a going over, it never happened and defensively Lee did OK, just offers very little going the other way

Lennon-7-At least tried to make things happen particularly in the 1st half, skinned Cole a couple of times and great ball to Steed for volleyed chance.

KPB-5-Very poor, personally I don't think he is good enough.

O'Hara-5-Not convinced Jamie is good enough either, poor set piece deliveries and has a nasty habit of being caught in possesion in bad areas.

Steed-6- At least he battled away and had our 1 good strike on goal, was in danger of being sent off.

Keane-4-1 word, anonymous.

Berba-6-No decent ball to work with and no partner to help him, won a few flick on's and looked like he would be dangerous if we could have used him better.

Subs

Taarabt-5-Did very little right but his introduction did put us on top for 15 minutes.

Defoe-5-Barely touched the ball

Kaboul-5- same as Defoe

Overall a really disappointing afternoon, I think that it shows that from a plethora of central midfielders only JJ is good enough.

His agent would be happy if Levy and Ramos think so but they don't.

 Your right Nidge I did

I don't think we were all 5's, Chelsea never dominated us and were 1-0 at half time despite doing very little themselves.

The whole game was about the 2nd goal, which to be fair neither side looked like getting. However it did come and they got it pretty much out of nothing.

The game could easily have finished 0-0 as neither side threatened very much.

bit of an overreaction on here it seems. Didnt see it but listened on the radio and it sounds like we gave them a match, at 1-0 down it was all spurs for much of the second half untill they got the second and we just gave up.

Anyone really expect a result today? i didnt, but we could of had a draw. Saying our whole team is shit and must be sold is just stupid, so shuttapa your face!

Precisely.

The match was very ugly. Their pitch is shit and so was most of the play today. But we were dominating in the 2nd half without any penetration.

With long balls you won't go any near to top 4 even with RVN, Eto'o or whoever upfront.

Berbatov hates long balls and always asks his teammates to serve to his foot, but they just can't do it.

Dont know about you guys but 5 minutes of Kaboul was enough for me to suggest that he hasnt got the mentality to be a top player...laughed the whole time he was one and misplaced a 2 yard pass to Lee....May sound knee jerk but he seems so talented but like Taarabt needs to think about the game more.

Will put today down to too many games in a short space but when we are fans think we have cracked it we put in a sloppy effort like that...Chelsea did play well though so hats off i guess.

Kaboul was absolutely awful when he was on. Taarabt fucked up several times but at least he gave us some attacking outlet from our midfield. Lennon tried and tried and nothing happened, Malbranque as well...probably our best two players apart from King. Keane was shite and Berbatov tried and tried, but was smothered and with no support was quickly frustrated and died from the game. The fact that even when he's playing poorly he manages to have some passages where he holds on to the ball against 4 chelski players is still a testament to his skill, or when he dribbles past player after player and lays off an easy ball for his team mate to then lose it.

Ohh and while im at it O'Hara really needs to work on his right foot...keeps turning into trouble...his inabilility to use it makes him very predictable...he will get found out otherwise!!
