We are learning, against Soton when needing a goal we had PEH passing square to Winks, who then passed square our creative attacking get out of jail option- Davidinson . We failed to score. Today when needing a goal we said Davi get your fat arse in to where it hurts and quality passes will set you up. We scored.
Football is an easy game it is only the players that make it hard!
Lots of small changes will make big improvements.
Happy New regime#

Sanchez motm even without the goal. Not a great technician but a warrior.

Son seems to struggle on the left wing these days. I'm sure he'll learn the system but at the mo he's not affecting the game.

Other than the great save he forced from their keeper and the FK assist for the goal you mean?

Sanchez my MoM even before he scored. It's ironic that he is playing very well but likely to lose his place when summer signing Romero returns?

Hugo 8 Did what he does very well
Royal 6 Didn't make the most of space and possession
Sanchez 8 Very involved, great header
Dier 7 Comfortable
Davies 7 same
Reggie 7 Good shot
Skipp 7 Used the ball positively
PEH 6 Not so good at being progressive with ball
Lucas 6 OK but no special moments
Kane 7 Held the ball up well and created some opportunities. Should have scored from Skipps pass
Son 6 not great but drew the foul and then delivered a great free kick
Winks 6 No great impact
Gio n/a not on long enough
Gill n/a looks positive and lively

Conte 6 Slow with substitutions. We were struggling to break Watford down. Surprised he didn't bring on Gil or Ndombele earlier to create a change.

Observation - With most of our chances coming from wingback crosses it's imperative we sign a striker who thrives on headers

Today's 11 were our best, but I don't think we did anything special and to win in the fashion we did was great as we wouldn't have got the three points under Nuno or JM.
We really need a striker to come on or challenge the present team as there wasn't much of a threat from the bench
None deserved MOTM for me
Romero deffo in our best 11

Hugo motm as he was faultless when called upon. Sanchez close 2nd.

He's brilliant so he's going to have moments but he doesn't seem to have a plan when he receives the ball in open play. Like I say, he'll get there.

Lack of off the ball movement meant any player on the ball, didn't have many options. Which slowed down our movement, making spurs ponderous. Which In turn, made Watfords life a little easier. Players were trying to run off the defenders shoulders into space, but credit to Ranieri, they were disciplined and didn't relent.

Speed up the passes and runs and it will open up stubborn defences like that.

Perhaps Conte lacks any trust in the CM options tgat might help prize open 11 man defences. Winks is pushing for a spot though

That said, I didn't think anyone had a poor game. Skipp and Sanchez probably my picks for motm with Skipp edging it for me.

Conte will see the issues in the last 2 games and will work on player movement. When he has time!

Both sides should/ could have had pens, I thought the officiating was again, quite poor.

Gil looked really lively in his cameo. I'm convinced there's a top player there. (But I've said this before about multiple players... many times!).

Is this son you are talking about in open play? (If so, we must be watching him from parallel universes where things are reversed and Newcastle are fighting it out with Norwich at the top.)

I didn't think he was very good today.

He's quality so he'll come good but he doesn't feel like he's figured it out just yet.

Same with kane. You can see they're trying but it lokks like hard work at the moment.

You meant In the context of this game only? I thought you meant from open play in general. He was a bit quiet, but he was effectively marked out the game, goal and a couple of chances aside.

He's excellent picking the ball up in open play though. If anything that's where he is, or me, most dangerous. Running at defences from open play?

He's been more quiet last couple of games, but that's what happens when you come up against a side that parks the proverbial.

Exactly. He seems to find himself on the corner of the penalty area, perfect for him, but slightly too late so it's too congested for him to shoot or cross. It's a timing thing, nothing more.

Neither Son or Kane played well but as you say kept at it. Besides his assist Son also came the closest to scoring in open play, brilliant shot brilliantly saved
We are struggling against deep defences but Chelsea and Arsenal will provide different problems
