Was a poor game to watch, Sanchez motm.

Watford had a back 6 when in possession which was veryy little and back 8 out of possession with 1 acting midfielder and one deep forward.
Kane always had at least 2 defenders on him and son and Lucas always had at least 1 defender on them but being careful not to get tight .
Made it impossible to find gaps in behind or for Kane to do much hold up .

Disappointed Conte didn't alter the mid greatly with both ndombele and lo celso in a 3 man and just push Lucas out wide perhaps. Or remove holjberg and have Dele linger behind the front 3
Was all to easy for Watford to defend crosses from wing backs

Plenty of movement from them both, but they had 4 players on them as soon as they got anywhere near the ball. Kane as well.
Kane was able to do something though, son missed two good chances and moura was just not at it for me

In a game where no one stood out, Davinson and Son get the plaudits for combining for the goal that converted a dour draw into an exciting win.

Lloris again outstanding when called upon and the save to his left only he makes those. Hope there was a good contract offer in his Xmas stocking.

Emerson afforded so much space and totally unable to take advantage of it, crossing was abysmal and struggles to beat his man. couldn’t understand why Conte persevered with him. Reggie a bit better and never had the space that was left down our right.

Dier and Davies sound. Skipp and PEH not to much trouble controlling the midfield but neither showed much guile going forward, don’t think we needed both against a team that basically conceded the midfield.

Son, Kane and Moura battled in a packed centre and carved out a few chances. Great work from Son to win the free kick and top delivery.

Great to see GLC and Gil get minutes, albeit quite late in the game.

A game we totally dominated without looking like we had the where with all to unlock their defence, big 3 points in the end.

Wasn’t overly impressed with anyone but I don’t think anyone was bad. Son was probably the worst player, yet without him we draw, and making a difference is the crux of football, so I’m just glad we won.

What I’m not glad about is our horrendous final ball, which has just been highlighted on Match of the Day:

58 crosses in the last two matches, resulting in a mightily impressive 0 goals. Must improve.

Romero is so missed
Is he? I'm being slightly facetious here but big Dave has stepped up pretty well in his absence and I don't think Romero is going to help much with chance creation or finishing, which is what we're currently struggling for.
Our defence has looked pretty tight recently.

Romero has an amazing long ball on him, and much better in positon than dave, credit to sanchez for stepping up of late, but romero is a class above. With 3 CBS in contes system, the use of attacking overlapping cb have been highlighted, and in a attacking and possession sense, romero is far superior.

I agree and as I said, I was being slightly facetious in my response but our defence recently, has been the least of our issues imo.

Agree, but our players were mostly defensive too - only 3 dedicated attacking players. no wonder they were swamped.
3 Cbs and 2 DMs is wrong for a game like this. Fair enough that conte wants to send a message to 2 players that they will not play again regardless.
But they are currently our players and there is no guarantee we will get an acceptable bid nor that they'll be replaced with better players.

sanchez looks as surprised as anyone when he scores but he is sharp to react and gets enough for it not to be a fluke. He's our most potent CB and for me on current form deserves the RCB spot over romero. Also he has built a good relationship with dier. These things take time.

my motm was lloris though - he was the man who changed the outcome of the game (we all understand we were destined to lose this against the run of play right?) with an absolutely world class save.

SANCHEZ - my MOTM because of his goal.

EMERSON - a big failure for me. Imagine if the likes of Mahrez or Foden had those kind of space and opportunities, they would ravage the opponents. But Emerson was totally useless with the possession he enjoyed.

With Conte's system requiring a lot of contributions from the wingbacks, this is definitely one area that needs to be prioritised.

CONTE - hugely disappointing with his substitutions. We were sturggling to break open the defence for the entire 1st half, but he didnt make immediate changes and when he finally did which was way past the 60th minute, it was a like for like change that did not change the way we played.

We had Gil, Lo Celso, Ndombele on the bench who couldve come so much earlier to change the tempo and gameplan, but for reasons unknown to mere mortals, he decided not to do so.

For me this was a real step up for Kane (7) . Prior to this game he wasn't creating his own chances. Vs Watford he was twisting ,turning and dribbling with the ball with some success . Could be that Kane is finally back imo .

I'm usually early to criticise Son effort (7)...but I thought he was lively , tho largely ineffective . Lucas (6) was OK . I agree with the post saying that with so few offensive players no wonder our 3 attackers were doubled up on and so had little space .
Skipp (7)continues to impress . Emerson(6) didn't really make effective use of the space he had .Reg (6) not a whole lot better . I'm disappointed that Sess is injured again . Well done Sanchez tho (8) and Lloris (7) was steady .

Good effort from team so voted on that option.
