Sky Sports News said:
Tottenham and Everton go in search of a Carling Cup quarter-final berth on Tuesday night.

Spurs are looking to make it all the way to Wembley for a third consecutive season, and claim a fifth League Cup triumph.

Harry Redknapp's side have already seen off two Championship sides in the competition so far, with Doncaster and Preston put to the sword.

Both of those games finished 5-1 in favour of the North London outfit and they will be hoping for more of the same in round four.

Everton stand in their way, but the Toffees will travel to White Hart Lane with a severely depleted side.

The Merseysiders saw off Premier League rivals Hull City in convincing fashion in their only Carling Cup outing so far this term, but are likely to face a tougher test in the capital.

David Moyes is adamant that his side can continue their quest for a long-awaited piece of silverware, but a draining fixture list suggests the Toffees could come unstuck.

Defoe banned

Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe is suspended for the midweek contest and Peter Crouch is expected to take his place in Redknapp's starting XI.
Aaron Lennon (ankle), Jonathan Woodgate (head), Ledley King (illness), Giovani dos Santos (ankle) and Luka Modric (fractured leg) also miss out.
Croatia midfielder Niko Kranjcar is cup-tied after playing for Portsmouth in the competition earlier this season.

Fitness tests

Everton will make late fitness checks on four of their injured players ahead of the game.
But Dutch defender John Heitinga, who limped out of Sunday's defeat at Bolton with cramp, will be fit to play at White Hart Lane.

Everton were missing 11 senior players at the Reebok, and only Aiyegbeni Yakubu (heel), Diniyar Bilyaletdinov (groin), Joseph Yobo (head) and Leighton Baines (calf) are likely to be in contention from that list.

He is clearly our most sexy player.

I'd do him and I'm not even a gay.

Has Parratt's one month loan finished? I know he played in the behind doors friendly, but if he was on a youth loan we can recall him for that. Aldershot have changed manager so he might not be interested in renewing.

I would like to see one of Parratt or Bostock play, dont think its worth playing JJ who is on 4 yellows or Wilson, who will pick up plenty of bookings during the season so why waste him in this game.

Hopefully the bench will have a kid or two as well. I cant see Everton risking many if any, so we should win

off course it is, daveed bentley behind crouchinho.

if you guys do not want to see jenas or wilson in the middle i think parrett or corluka would be the tastey choices alongside hudd. and i got a hunch bale could do a nice job there too..

actually wouldnt be surprised if redknapp had a look at bentley alonside hudd tonight, but then keano would have to play so, hmmm

I definately think Bostock should get a start. Its a great game for him to get experience againts good Premiership opposition. Also, we really need to be resting our best players for the weekend. Huge, huge game on Saturday!
