I quite like the ratings. No other fan forums I've seen have as many or so much usage of them and I think it's part of what makes SC unique.

Dumbing it down to just thumbs up and thumbs down kinda kills it as there's a huge difference between an agree, a funny and an informative rating. Having a binary system would make it more bland and probably encourage more negativity if anything.

Also like 99% of the ratings are positive anyway. It's fairly rare that a post gets massively down voted - the vast majority are either positively rated or not rated at all.

I don't judge or read posts based on their ratings but it's interesting way to get a gauge on what other people agree/don't agree with.

Totally agree and the informative rating is excellent. Very very helpful, especially in the transfer section.

If a member wants to discuss tactics before, during or after then perhaps that's where the answer lies. Use the tactical autopsy thread to discuss that side of things during the game. Would just need to advertise that's what members wanted. Or even the post match player ratings thread. That can be quite informative, and funny.

Or perhaps have a dedicated pre match discussion, match day and post match threads? As opposed to all in 1 place. As I said before, you can't please all the people all the time.

The thread on the day of the game, is surely all about the moment as it happens? Warts and all. Or what's the point.

I think it's entertaining, irritating and sometimes informative all at the same time. But that's the same on all forums.

I think the match thread has its place. I quite like it. I live in Asia, usually watch games on my own as they are on late at night.

The match thread is a way of creating the discussions you would have with your mates in the pub or at the ground. I disagree it needs to be more about tactical discussions and disecting the 3-4-3 formation we are playing. We can do that after the game (or maybe at half time). During the game is it about quick comments, yes it can be a moan, but can also be things we want to get off our chest or to just feel we are supporting the team. We can't all be in the stadium or can't be with our friends or family.

So let us have our match day chats. Let's just be civil to each other and the players.

The match thread has always been my favourite thing about this place, I remember the IRC live chatroom too from yonks ago that was hella fun. If it were to be reformed in a way that you can’t write/read running commentary I think I’d be a lot less active (compounded with the fact that I can’t post in the transfer rumours forum because I did a crime more heinous than killing a man by posting a picture in the itk discussion thread ?).

Small request, can we go back to the 'clickable' world clock we used to have on the opening page. With kick off times changing from week to week and throw in time changes it makes life a lot simpler for old people like me that can't figure out wtf the time is here compared to there. Ta lots!
