Don’t think Madrid will sell him.

Plea, Gomes, Grealish and Dunk and we can definitely make a push for Europa League next season.
We've been mocked for not winning anything but we'll see who's laughing when we win the Championship twice within the next five years.

A €50m release clause for Kovacic seems low (in modern football) but if he wants to go and if someone has the money to trigger it and pay the player's wages (hoping Spurs do) then that would be an amazing signing.

It seems that £50m clause is actually £300m. Allegedly, apparently, so they say etc.

Has he? He's made no mistakes, but very good...? Some of you live in a dream world. I've seen nothing in this boy today, or during the world cup, that has me persuaded that signing him would be a dream move.

Croatia had nothing until he was subed on, they took over the game straight away with him on the pitch. But Denmark cane back, Rakitic has been absolutely non existing. Rebic and Kovacic has been the only croatian players trying to create something.

Would you class that performance as very good? Based on that performance would you say he's a dream singing. I actually think he got better as the game went on. He was tidy, but nothing special. The best midfielder tonight was probably delaney.

Its not based on this performance but the games i have seen him play both with Inter and Madrid over the years.

Thing I find most annoying about our apparent lack of interest in him is not how good or bad he is (I obviously think he’s extremely talented) as every player is a risk (even the ones you know are good) it’s the fact that, skill set wise, he’s exactly what we need yet we, apparently, seem to be prioritising players in AMF, of which we have a fuck tonne already at the club. Oh well.

I agree it is weird. Especially weird that there has been basically zero itk on Kovacic after him publically stating he wants out. Even so much as "it's a nonstarter" or "Madrid want a billion for him and the release clause touted in the news is a lie" (hyperbole intended).

I have been trying to keep track of this position as it is the one I am most interested in.

Trix has said we are targeting two CMs. Herc said we will have to get "creative" if our forward targets come to fruition.

Grealish - unclear if we view him as a CM which is where he found his best form for Villa this past season in a midfield 3.

Gomes - Trix and Herc both chimed in on Gomes but neither seemed particularly thrilled about it, though Herc did heavily imply we could do that deal if we wanted to.

Ndombele - Herc said we have seen his scouting videos and have concerns about his passing around the box in defense. Herc said the club want over 40m for him (unclear if this was itk or reaction to news story). Some uncertainty on whether he is actually an OL player yet or not. Edit: Dov shared dragon1's opinion he would be our first signing but no clear answer if this was onions or it, seemed more the former.

Barrios - Herc said there was interest but we decided to not pursue.

Cristante - Mentioned by Trix. Joined Roma.

Kovacic - tumbleweeds??

I am probably missng some other obvious one doing this off the top of my head but I can't recall there being much else for other CM targets. The rest of what we have like Kovacic all come from a scattershot of news articles with who knows what level of reputation.

Just putting this out there but Perhaps the reason we don’t have any links to this player is the Poch doesn’t fancy him?

That may be - but then that begs the question - why?

Its easy to say "he is out of our price range", its harder to understand "We don't like him for footballing reasons". Not saying that could not be the case - but I have not seen the argument put forth that he would not be a good fit.
