Pretty simple to ask around. Especially in this case as Baldini will have a lot of what Destro is like personally.

It's not just in this sport either. I'm a Houston Texans and a Winnipeg Jets fan and both organizations put character first. They ask around with contacts and then have scouts dig a little deeper, check in at a hotel the player has been at and ask receptionists and other staff how the player treats them and interacts with them for example.
That's what Fergie is reputed to have done. Didn't stop him signing Bosnich, though.

23 yo. Scored 13 in 20 last season but off form this season. Only 1 goal in 13 since October.

For someone who moans that we should be playing more youth players all the time, surely we don't actually need another centre back? We could easily get rid of one and give Dier more time.
Well, actually we do right now. Kaboul needs to go also. This swap would leave us with 3 CB's(Verts, Dier and Fazio) if/when we get Kaboul to fuck off. I wouldnt be saying this if we had Veljkovic, Ball or Hall still in but we dont as all 3 are out on loan.

http://sportwitness.ning.com/forum/...or-arsenal-target-developments-could-happen-w

"TMW have reported on claims in the Italian media that there could be developments very soon on Tottenham’s pursuit for the forward. Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini is already lining up a replacement for Destro, and Shakhtar Donetsk star Luis Adriano is one of those players on the club’s short list. Sabatini is just waiting on the Ukraine club to sanction a move for the Brazilian and if he does arrive in this transfer window Destro will then be allowed to leave.

There have been claims that Tottenham defender Vlad Chiriches could be involved in the deal but it has been revealed the Destro transfer could be done without the Romanian going the other way. Chiriches has been linked with a move to Roma but this deal is more likely to happen in the summer transfer market."

I'm honestly not sure if I'd rather to be proved wrong or right on this:

Is he still massively overweight?

He or any other striker isn't signing unless either Ade or Soldado leave.
Just like we won't be signing a winger unless Lennon leaves, we won't be signing a defender unless Kaboul or Chiriches leave and we won't be signing a CM unless Capoue and Dembele leave.
One week to go and I'm not seeing what I'd consider strong links regarding any of the above.

Word is, that we are in for Eziquiel Munoz, an Argentinian centre back from Palermo. He was left out of their squad on Sunday for a very important Seria A match against Sampdoria. Their Manager explained that his mental state was not right to play, as his transfer rumours are affecting his tranquillity for games.
That could explain the thinking of letting Chiriches go.

Munoz is only rated a 71 on FIFA at 25...

Nah ;) .. The article states:

However Vocegiallorossa.it have played down the claims, reporting that sources at Trigoria have denied that Destro is set for a medical with the Rossoneri. Instead, they report that talks with Tottenham Hotspur are continuing after the Premier League side tried to sign the striker last summer.

Destro had been linked by Sportmediaset with a €26m move to Spurs earlier this month, though any fee could be reduced if Vlad Chiriches - who Spurs beat Roma to the signing of in 2013 - was included as a makeweight.

I am quite wary of forwards from Italian League at the moment. Last years scoring champ Ciro Immobile has been very mediocre at Dortmund this year. Cavani has been mediocre at PSG. Balotelli is a spectacular failure at Pool. Osvaldo became a reject at Soton. Lamela has not justified his 30 mil price tag. All of the mentioned above cost pretty pennies.
