Mauricio Pochettino is to leave Paris St-Germain following talks with the club at the end of last week.

PSG are still to make a formal announcement but it is understood the former Tottenham manager, 50, will not serve the final year of his contract.

Zinedine Zidane, Jose Mourinho and Nice coach Christophe Galtier are among those linked with replacing Pochettino.

Too much a major challenge after leaving Spurs - I wish him luck with his next appointment

Glad he’s out of that mess of a club, and hope he gets a great job that he deserves next. Not sure where though

Obligatory “love Poch as much as the next Spurs fan” post but I wonder if those UCL comments and the timing of them, as well as some of the rumours coming from inside the club at the time, have made him question a few things…

His stint at PSG comes as a timely reminder that the grass isn’t always greener…

He deserves a good steady job with no pressure on him to deliver and no egos to contend with. I think he will take a break and maybe return to the prem.

The grand irony being that he'd probably be a great choice for the direction PSG are going in with their new Sporting Director, but last season has just done too much damage to his relationship with the fans.

No idea where he'll end up. Hopefully he'll take some time out (he can afford to!) and wait for something tasty to come up.

Why is this being posted? It’s not Spurs news unless I’m missing something

It always felt like he wanted to have more control at Spurs. It seemed like he wanted to be more of a DOF and have more of a say in things.

He always felt like the wrong fit for PSG.

Very interested to see where he goes next.

Exactly. If someone still loves Poch they can track his progress elsewhere, or even in the general football chat but I think we, as a fan base, need to forget about him and realise the club has moved on. I wouldn't want him back right now even if Conte left as I think he let himself down in his last season with us and it exposed his shortcomings. His ego had grown and his eye for talent to transfer in did not seem decisive. He needs to evolve before he is in a position to win trophies in the Premier league imo. But I'll always love him for those 1st 4 seasons...

We have threads about well liked and respected ex players, why not managers?

I think the issue is with news about ex-managers can be posted and discussed in their relevant thread within General Football, not in this section of the forum which should be reserved for current Spurs news stories.

Or we could just leave the mods who run this section, to carry on doing what they've always done.
Plenty of people are still interested in Poch, if you're not, just don't click the link.

Why are they a "mess of a club"?

They have three of the best players in the World, and if Poch couldn't harness that much talent to defend a two goal first leg tie against Madrid in the CL and that's what has cost him his job.

The end of the day he didn't deliver their objective, something that comes with the job.

Seriously? They are a mess of a club because the stars are bigger than the club. They can ignore the manager, they don’t have to play the way he wants. They underperform under every manager, perhaps you want to think about what the common denominator is.

It's a shame but the writing was on the wall. Not sure where he goes next. Hearing PSG will need a new manager soon.
