If 'Poch', as he's been referred to in recent weeks, is the one then I hope it's not based on some notion that as he's an Argie he'll therefore get the best out of our record signing...
I'm sure there is some degree of flirtation with the nationality. Lamela not settling well has been a good topic of the past. I could see levy trying to get his moneys worth as abramovich did with Torres + Spanish Waiter.

Personally I think one of the key interests in Pochettino is what he can do with what we have. We are about to build the stadium which will limit us for the next few years and have already invested heavily in our squad, and our youth teams always seem to be very strong. I expect a half decent budget this season, but after that I suspect reduced funds for a few years.

It's been reported that he lost faith in the saints project because they couldn't convince him they'd hold on to their best players. Should have no problems with spurs' approach then.

Indeed. The reason he is leaving is fairly clear:
Pochettino’s departure has been on the cards ever since Nicola Cortese resigned as Southampton’s executive chairman in January. Cortese was instrumental in bringing Pochettino to England 16 months ago and the pair are close. Pochettino threatened to resign when Cortese’s position came under threat last year, saying that he could not imagine Southampton without the Italian, and he has been coy when questioned about his future over the past four months.

It won't have been a consideration but it could be an added benefit.

If Levy was thinking of a coach to get the best out of specific individuals then I'd say De Boer would be more likely given his connections to Eriksen & Vertonghen.

The parallels with Rodgers and Martinez are interesting. They were both limited by the resources at their disposal and I see the criticisms of Pochettino in the same light. He got the maximum out of a reasonably talented but very thin Southampton squad. The fact that they may have struggled to maintain their pace or recover from going behind was quite likely down to lack of options in personnel.

I'm excited. Yes there's a risk, but if it comes off, why can't we do in time what Liverpool did last year

I imagine soton won't sell lellana and shaw and then plough all the money back into players, like we do

It's great reading what he has done with Soton when Redknapp went I called for Moyes (phew on that one although is stock was high at Everton at the time) and Martinez which still in my mind is the one that got away as now proving with Everton. I did back Sherwood through naivety also was just pleased to see someone take over from AVB's mess.

Poch now looks a dead cert but as noted by Bennys LOL I've never seen a plan B from this coach also managing Spurs is a completely different animal than Soton the endless politics which surrounds our club can only be calmed by winning and the last one which did this was Redknapp where it eventually soured in the end.

My money is him being shrewd with the football he wants to play and fits nicely with our required remit he also keeps the media on their toes but reportedly he won't be able to hide behind a translator now so that will be interesting insight. There are concerns though as he just seems detached from any real passion and when it comes to our main London derbies or any of the top 4 this is something last season which we were seriously lacking and just resulted in mainly embarassing drubbings then the horrible reality of having to face the office next day. If it's all a smoke screen to instilling belief behind closed doors than fairer enough but the similarity with the face of Ramos is a bit haunting dare I say it at a bit clueless maybe a parellel with AVB in some respects. Acknowledge Poch has got the nod for Premiership experience one thing is for sure this to me is Levy's along with Baldini's final drink in the last chance saloon because as laughing stocks go from AVB to Sherwood they couldn't have got any worse.

Another page turns with another boss let's just hope this chapter with Levy lasts longer because at the moment they are far too short, trigger happy and not least of all tragic we await a happy ending where CL footie and silverware would be one perfect ending. Slightly digress as for the chapter with new stadium this remains unfinished as well seems an endless wait get it done also make it 65/70,000 only 56,000 you want the top bloody aim for it!!! We as fans deserve the best not mediocrity!!! COYS!!!

John Bond was on the radio, putting the negative spin. He and Redknapp aren't bitter at all, are they? I see Redknapp's trying to turn QPR into a home for the West Ham youth team he had.

I also see this 'great manager' with the clear best squad in the nationwide wasn't among the promoted by position and nearly blew promotion via the play offs.
