So apparently the Saudi Arabian government (yeah, those lovely chaps) have been sniffing around Man Utd, with a view to purchase the club for £4 billion (link below).

This is another factor Poch will need to consider if he gets offered the Utd; essentially the owners who hire him, may not be there after his first season. They may be replaced with a group of very dubious individuals.

PS As the video below states, the murder of that journalist in the Turkish embassy has thrown the Saudi football plans into a tail-spin. However, they're likely to revive them over the next 12 months. If, for whatever reason, they can't agree a deal for Man Utd, Tottenham would definitely be on their shortlist (CL, PL, great squad, new stadium, London). I wonder how our fans will react to that?

PPS Video link:

We're the Yids. How could we possibly be true to ourselves while supporting a pawn for a fascist terror state that would eradicate the Jews if they ever got the chance? I expect we'd see a fan-owned "Tottenham" form in the non-league and a fair number of our fans would leave to support them, myself included.

I don’t intend to start a poll on this thread!

However, stimulated by this debate, here’s a little test I just formulated for myself. I took 10 different scenarios and scored each them out of 10. I’ve done it for this Season (ie. in future years my priorities could change, depending on what happens).

The scores produced a ranking which made it clear to me what I want: PL or CL, followed by domestic trophies and Top 4. However, IF I can only have PL Top 4 OR a domestic cup, I’m pretty clear in my own mind I’d go for Top 4 again. Whilst a successful day out at Wembley would be great (especially in May, ie. FA Cup), the loss of momentum (and cash) from losing CL would set us back far more than winning a domestic cup would benefit us (and give the pundits a different stick to beat us with; “Spurs back to their proper slot on Thursday nights”). Sad but that’s the way it is.

Premier League Champions 10 / 10 pnts
Champions League Winners 9

PL Top 4 AND FA Cup Winners 8 / 10
CL Finalists 7
PL Top 4 AND Carabao Winners 6
PL Runners Up 5
PL Top 4 but NO Cup trophy 4

FA Cup Winners but PL 5th 3 / 10
Carabao Winners but PL 5th 2
CL Semi-Finalists but PL 5th 1

How about this scenario?

We finish top 4 for the next 10 years but don't win anything?
In that scenario, I'd much rather take any cup win over the 10 years and miss out on top 4 for the following season! What is the point of 10 years worth of top for finishes, in reality, other than money, it doesn't mean Jack shit!

How likely is that? By requifying for the CL you make the most money and keep/attract the best players. Trophies should follow

Priority should be top 4, bit of course it doesn’t have to be mutually exclusive

I wonder how his stock would be perceived if we win nothing from this position. For that to happen we will have high profile failures in the Carabo and CL and possibly FA cup depending how far we go. And flat lining in the league. I can’t imagine that’s exactly going to do his chances of United much good especially if Solskjær actually won something or gets top 4.
On the other hand if he does win something they’d be a massive feel good factor which would make it very hard for him to leave as he may feel the biggest hurdle is out the way. So in some ways it’s actually hard to imagine a perfect scenario where he might leave. It’s sort of win win for us.

Tbh I don’t see any issue with it being discussed on a discussion program. And let’s be honest he is the obvious choice right now. What I do object to is it being discussed in commentary when Spurs are playing Cardiff or every pre match interview with pochettino.

I make a point of watching all his pre and post match pressers. He is getting more and more guarded and snippy with the Press. However when you see him after games with the likes of Harry R, Jenas and other ex players he seems much more natural and seems happier to chat and appears to be more open.

As I said at the start of my post, my priorities might/would change over a period of time, depending what happens. Those are how I rank my preferences for THIS Season. I'd take PL over CL because we haven't won our domestic league since I was a 5 yr old. More realistically I'd love Top 4 AND a cup trophy. BUT, forced to choose, I'd take Top 3-4 again this year OVER a cup this year and Europa league next season.

I can see what you're saying, however my scenario was, would you prefer;
If we played the next 10 years and finished top 4 in each but didn't win anything, or
During those 10 years we win a cup and miss out on top 4 that season.
I would pick the latter as we can generate all the money in the world but have nothing to show for it! Yes we might attract better players but what's the point of them if they don't win anything?

I reckon it's pretty unlikely that you are good enough to qualify for the top 4 for 10 years in a row yet are unable to win a cup.

Poch has stated he is not interested in FA or League cups , his priority is top four, think fans need to get used to that . Not many players have joined clubs because they are FA or League cup winners but they do join clubs that offer regular CL football.

He hasn't said anything about not being interested...

He said that winning he takes the CL and the Prem more seriously and winning them would put us on another level, nothing about not "being interested" in those cups at all.
