Got covid apparently

Fucking hell talk about bad timing. Just as he's trying to settle in and get himself set up he'll have to isolate.

Also thinking about it, given that they just won a cup a couple of days ago, you can almost guarantee he was hugging and celebrating in close proximity with players and other staff so there's a strong chance he'll have passed it on to others. His first ever cup win could turn out to be a bloody super spreader event or whatever you call it

Still reeling from that CL final
Are you talking about confidence? Because I know the issue isn't that exactly. I know a coach there and the reason they've suffered is because after the final they had one week holiday before preseason and then a cup competition, the league started shortly after and they have been playing a game every 4 days since the CL final. In that time they've had countless injuries/niggles as they struggle with demands and they were hit by COVID.

I'm hoping to get more insights on Poch in future.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

The debate continues on the Poch thread I see. He's gone now so whether he's a success or not should really be a moot point now.

Probably because this is a thread about Poch and you're talking about how Jose is doing? :cautious:
Ha, yeah, I know. At least the next manager won't have to measure up to Mourinho and Poch is still the measuring stick. :playful:

PSG lost against team in the bottom 3 today.

Looked like they went gung-ho at 2-2 to try and steal the win, which left them with absolutely no one in defence so Lorient were gifted the win.

Bit naive, but remains to be seen if it's a long term trait.

And I bet he loved every minute of it being an Espanol man

He would have being a forget player for both PSG and Espanol. I'm torn about the result, I love Barca and i love Poch for what he did for Spurs.

Tough to see him at the helm for such a travesty of a football club, but they're really impressive. Will be interesting to see how they develop further down the line.

I think its similar to what a lot of teams and managers have so far - it'll be a challenge to keep Neymar and a few others convinced and committed to the effort and project by the time the 'new manager' novelty has worn off.

I imagine it's easier for Poch to be able to regale them with stories of captaining PSG, and trying to get some passion into them all.

The secondary challenge, I guess, will be transfers. How he will cope if they sell someone he wants to keep, or buy someone he doesn't want. I've seen a few snipey comments about Poch being 'manager' but he isn't - Leonardo has a lot of control over various aspects of the job, and he's seen off a few managers in his time already. That's led to issues at us before (with Baldini, Mitchell etc) so it might be the end of the summer before we get a good picture of how much harmony there is. I'm sure it'll get him a lot of sway if he does well in the CL.

I've watched a couple of PSG games (not solely because of Poch, I watch a few European games now and then), and they've been average to rubbish so far in the league to be honest, but last night they were phenomenal. The pressing and the movement was superb, and even shite players like Moise Kean now look like they know what they are doing.

You need to caveat it by saying Barcelona are managed by a blancmange and Messi, at the age of 47 is no longer at the height of his powers, but it was still pretty good.
