What kind of transfer fee are we talking about? £9 million was a helluva lot to pay Rangers for a FB. NB I'm not saying Hutton isn't a good player, he clearly is, just that very few FBs have ever been sold for that kind of money.

Given we'll probably get £5 million-plus of filthy Thai lucre from Man City for Robbo, and Cerny's loan contract runs out in the summer, I wouldn't be surprized to see us sign Kameni as well. In fact, I suspect the hold-up with Kameni may not be about money, but about guaranteeing Kameni regular first-team football. In other words, I suspect Juande may want two new GKs to compete for the Number One spot next season, and is not prepared to guarantee first team football to either.

I like the sound of it and it makes sense in a way but there must be a reason no other club rotates their keepers?

Spoken to my mate who is a season ticket holder up there - rates him very highly. Thinks he is a much better prospect than Craig Gordon.

Was devastated we signed Hutton and said he would be mortified if we got McGreor as well..... also said to expect a fans revolt at Ibrox.

I checked the shay given stats - as I thought he was less than 6 ft - but both stats i've seen have him at 6 ft 1 -

now if this keeper is shorter than given - then I've got worries -

I'm not talking rotation, and I don't think Ramos would be either. And that could be the problem in contractual negotiations with Kameni.

What I'm suggesting is that, on first day of pre-season, rather than everyone knowing that Robinson is Number One and Cerny is backup, McGregor and Kameni (hypothetically) would turn up and have six weeks (or whatever) to compete for the right to start the season in our goal. A genuine competition, best man wins, and the winning keeper then starts in all matches (apart from say Carling Cup) until they start making lots of mistakes. Hopefully our new keeper will never ever make a mistake ever...

Now that's great from the club's point of view, but for a player like Kameni, who's first choice at Espanyol, the prospect of having to compete for a starting spot in pre-season may not be too attractive. And given he's rumoured to have a low buyout clause (c£4 million), and we would pay him a lot more than Espanyol do, I'm really not sure why a deal hasn't been done if we really want him.

Just speculating...

Would Rangers really let Mcgregor go? He's been a rock for them all season

Rangers have reportedly had cash problems which led them to almost push Hutton out of the door. The Hutton money might have fixed that but maybe they still need a cash injection form us rich kids?

On Yanno's speculation, I like it too but it just won't fly. The GK position is fundamentally different and I think you need a back-up GK who's been brought in under that thinking (but he might be told he has some chances to make it his own a la Almunia).

I think you're probably right, although I'm still amazed that a top keeper like Cudicini, who was on the verge of the Italian national team when Cech signed, has been prepared to be a back-up for four seasons.

Here's the problem: if Robbo goes (because he definitely won't stay as a back-up), and we don't sign Cerny permanently, then we'll need an experienced back-up. Forecast, Button & Jansson are all young and need to get out and play on loan. Is Alnwick ready to be our backup? Earlier this season, the ITK gossip was that he wasn't. And he was only on the bench for Leicester at the weekend.

So, if Alnwick isn't considered ready, we're likely to need two need GKs in the summer. Which is actually what prompted my speculation in the first place: if we sell Robbo for £5million plus, then signing two proper keepers in Kameni and McGregor might only cost us £3-4 million netto...

talking about Goalkeepers - after watching yesterdays game what about Chris Kirkland? Very injury prone but sometimes joining a new club can stop those niggling injureries. He is a good age for a keeper (26), english (communication and premiership experience) 6ft 6, plays for a lesser team then ourselves making him a realistic target.

I think if he impresses against us on Saturday under the watchful eye of Juande he could be a tearget - 6-7m should prize him away. He would absolutly jump at the chance of a move to us and really boost his england chances. He knows like anyone else thet the England no1 position is still up for grabs

If that happens we should definitely be in for Joe Hart who seems to be the best young english keeper around at the moment. His save percentage is in the top 5 keepers this season, according to the Observer, while Robbo is bottom out of all keepers in the prem!

Havn't seen much of him but it's good if we're sorting out our targets now. We need to try and get the squad sorted as early as possible this summer so this would be a good start.

Next stop a new midfield.

Completely agree, whilst it would make for a boring summer I would love us to be all sorted asap!

Due to Spurs' early business approach I don't think the traditional window is a valid set of dates for ITK. I'll be petitioning to my MP for ITK discussion to be opened immediately.
