Close friend met Aaron Lennon in a bar yesterday in Leeds. After building up the courage to go ove to talk to him he spent a bit of time with Lennon and two of his mates. Apparently his mates were 26 and both got dropped at 20 from Leeds United, (one of them being a striker who was the first choice to come through but was injured and alan smith played and scored instead). Anyway Lennon brought my friend a drink and after much banter and discussion something about him not knowing were Ruislip is in London it moved towards football. He said:
  1. Everyone at club including himself loved Martin Jol
  2. Berbatov going is not as sure as most of you like to think on SC
  3. The keano, berbatov and chimbonda corner flag celebration was planned before the match
I for one and very happy this is the case seeing as berbatov is a great asset and things do happen while he is on the ball. His moaning does get on my nerves but he is a top quality player and losing him will just delay this so called breaking of the top 4 another 2-3 years. This is seen by the way we still miss Carrick.
Also was estatic to hear about the goal celebration. I loved the incident.

It's good to hear someone with a positive story about meeting Lennon. The impression I get from hearing similar stories is that he's a bit up his own arse.

I've been thinking about Lennon for a bit and I think we underrate Lennon here at SC. This kid is going to be massive. He's so young and has a ton of talent. So I figured this would be a good place to insert some praise for the lad. Only player on our team who can be devastating consistently with the ball at his feet in open space.

He's at that age, when things can go one way or another. If he knuckles down and works hard then, all else being well, he'll blossom into a class player. If, on the other hand, he lets his status go to his head, he may never realise the vast potential he undoubtedly has.

I met him in KFC once. We attempted a high five but he ended up slapping my knee.

Most people on SC think he's going, but Lennon's saying that may not be the case...

Yep, that was pretty thick :)

He actually said that? Wow, that's pretty impressive that a Spurs player goes on a night out and ends up talking about SC!!

I've met him 4 times and he's always seemed a bit moody. Like when people ask him questions he's blunt with his answers and has a big attitude. Neither here nor there though, so long as he plays well and keeps out of trouble!!

What celebration?

The one where they pulled out the corner flag mounted it and started spanking it like they were riding an 18 year old blonde in a hotel room.

If I remember it was in the away leg against Slavia, could be wrong.

Wasn't it a follow up to the goal celebration in the League match on the Saturday at home?

When Kaboul scored a late goal and Keano, I think it was, jumped on his back and made out like he was riding a horse by whipping him?

If I could be bothered I'd look for pics......

Bullshit. He rarely goes back to Leeds during the season now. One of my oldest friends is very good friends with Tony Lennon (He played with him at Bradford Park Avenue)

Lennon has been pictured a few times on nights out and that has totally skewed his reputation. he's a young lad, so he enjoyed a drink or two on a night out, big deal.
