Little harsh mate :-(

I pretty much hate anyone who acts as though the achievements of a football team are in some way releated to their own life. It just so happens that this is the case with many Arsenal fans.
...
I actually wish all fans could sit side by side and take the piss out of each other but enjoy the game with no hints of violence or even tension. The game would be much better off if this was the case I feel.
In addition, I have been living out of London for years now and all my peers identify me with Spurs very closely. People occasionally just refer to me as "Spurs". I take pride in that.
Agreed with everything you said with one caveat. The problem is that I feel so good when we win and so horrendous when we lose that clearly the achievements of Spurs are in some way related to my own life - just not a reflection on me. In addition, I have been living out of London for years now and all my peers identify me with Spurs very closely. People occasionally just refer to me as "Spurs". I take pride in that.
I think that tension will always be there between full-blooded fans but it's the reaction to the tension that's the key - taking the piss is part of it. Anger management.
Ultimately, "glory-hunters" identify themselves so closely with a team's performance because they are so unhappy with their own miserable existence. I identify with my team's performance because of family and local pride. I'm happy with that.
Mine too, my dads West Ham though. Clearly didn't do his job properly when bringing us up!My brother's an Arsenal fan.
The first Goon I met was a boy by the name of Stuart Ede, if memory serves. He was 6 foot 2 at the age of 11, ginger and freckley. He was the most ungainly footballer but caused havoc due to his size. Frequently scored. He went on to be quite good at golf.
Thankfully he's dead now.
