Haha got bad news then bubba, Depay is very much an inverted winger with a resounding right foot. If it's a traditional one you're hoping for, then it's Ayew you're hoping the rumors about were true.

Ah okay I see.

My bad lol.

I've a feeling he wasn't there watching Depay at all. PSV have quite a few other players that might appeal to us.

Narsingh and Maher would be interesting signings, or maybe Markus Henriksen from AZ who were also playing...

Considering JJ has said for the last 2 windows he is our number one target it would be very surprising if he was not who we were there to watch primarily

Hopefully this time in 6 months Depay will give just another interview as a Spurs player, stating that our firm interest through multiple windows convinced him that we wanted him more than any other club in the picture.

Has anyone seen much of him all in all?

Last i see was at the WC. Looks an exciting prospect but for me has a bit of the 'Lamela' about him - big cost up front for big potential but as yet, that potential is a little unfulfilled and may take a bit of nurturing to get it out of them?

I've watched a lot of this guy this season on BT Sport.

Brilliant player, gone up a level since the WC.

Don't think we'll get him personally.

But you never know. We might get a Lloris moment where none of the bigger / richer clubs need him.

Bayern, United, City, and PSG could all use him though imo.

With kane's present form and if Dier keep improving as CB then they have saved Levy from spending 25-30M on a quality striker and 20-25M on a quality CB this summer....which would free up money for an quality player in another position.
Thing is, the way Dembele is playing now as OMF, which has pushed Eriksen out on the LWF spot (where Depay plays) and having Chadli too as LWF means Poch may consider that spot well covered.
Besides, if ManU really are after him there is no way Spurs can out-bid them.

He'll stay with such a lineup if he has no interest in pushing on from 5-7th. Doesn't even have to be left winger, nor even Depay specifically, but if we stay with our current AM options and their similarity and lack in pace, we will not push on. We will win most of our games, but we will continue to lose to sides such as Liverpool who use pace in abundance to run us ragged and into mistakes, while we don't even have the pace to shield our defenders let alone run at the defenders on the other side of the pitch.

One of Our most important transfer Windows ever i feel coming up its important that levy backs up the good work of poch with cold hard cash.
And lets not wait until the last two days of august to do anything totally pointless.

IMO he really wouldn't even have to spend much, but I'm still looking forward to it given what ITK is suggesting. I'd be more than happily content were we to go with Kono or Ayew for free this summer if Depay doesn't work out. But we absolutely cannot stand still, that is imperative as we were once again shown last week how our slim options can hurt us.

Good shout on those two but à sensible spend on key positions is Paramount.

Well in my opinion we could challenge for top four on nothing but players out of contract available this summer, but I don't disagree with you.

No doubt about it that Depay would change our attack tremendously as he's incredibly talented. I mentioned it in the ITK thread, but Depay, Kane, Eriksen and Lamela in attack as a unit is about as talented and full of upside you can find in just about all of Europe. I'd happily sell off Townsend, secure the final sale of Lennon (if it's not a formality at this point) and bring on Depay and keep Pritchard at the club to round out our attacking options behind the striker. I could see Depay and Chadli at LW, Eriksen/Dembele at CAM and Lamela/Pritchard/Yedlin(?) as our options behind the striker. For me, that's got a ton of potential to fit the attack together to suit the opponent.

I cream at the thought of it. It's a very interchangeable group of players, Depay would compliment everyone well.

Given that he's turned us down once already, I can't really see this happening. I'd love it to happen though. Our first 11 is starting to look balanced and quality but we're seeing already that we need depth of squad and rotation. Depay would probably end up a starter meaning that key players like eriksen could be rested without the current consequences of doing so (struggling/failing to score) He also adds pace to balance our front line.

A good second striker is also imperative. We're too reliant on 2 players for our goals and they can't play every game in a season.

Is Depay an inverted LW, LWF? If so, as talented as he may be I think we'd be better served going for a right sided player, whether that be an orthodox wide man or an inverted winger/RWF.

We have Chadli and Eriksen for the left hand side, where as Lamela/Townsend is by far our weakest link in attack.

I can't even count the number of times I've heard that about every window the last many years.

I totally agree that Spurs lack pace in attack and that is a huge "handicap" but that doesn't make Spurs able to beat ManU to Depay IF ManU are after him - nor do I think Levy will be willing to break the bank yet again (but I may be wrong)...
