His price was well above that paltry sum before the World Cup. He's been the hottest commodity in Germany for well over a year. This was just shit journalism playing on the lack of knowledge of those who don't watch a league. Like me talking to someone who watches only La Liga about Hamsek.

The amazing thing is that Schalke, under, if I'm not mistaken, the idiot kind Fred Rotten (sic) let him go for fucking peanuts (3 million pounds), because they didn't see him in their plans and he wanted to play. Any wonder that they are in such shambles.

Of course, Italian media is the worst in the world, it makes the Daily Star look reputable. In any case £20m is still going to be a lot for a guy who can leave for nothing in a year. If Ozil really wanted to leave he could force the situation a little.

Oh and Hamsik isn't really that great. He is good, but I don't think he is such a special talent.

All flair, no end product. Doing a few good things against Australia isn't gonna change that opinion.

Marko Marin would be a better option for me.

In fact the Bundesliga could sort us out entirely. Buy Subotic, Altintop, Marin and Derdiyok or Guerrero then we are fine.

Good shout. I would go for Marin/Ozil, Subotic, M Gomes and Derdiyok

12 goals and 29 assists in his last 2 seasons for Werder! Sounds like a player with a bit more than a few skills and no end product! Good performance the other night and another assist, its quite clear hes a player who has the ability to change a game and make things happen!

Ozil is very similar to Modric. I think Elia would be a better player for us in versatility, pace and strength.

Elia would be a phenomonal signing, but I fear his price might double after the world cup.
Gervinho might also be a really good option, but the same could happen with him too.

I can't see why we are even discussing Ozil. It's not like he's come out of nowhere and had one good game. We had no chance before he played well against Austalia and we still have no chance. We might aswell discuss the possible sinings of Ribery or Robben from the Bundeliga.

Elia has already said he'll stay at HSV next season and we'd already missed the boat there anyway. I don't think Marin is suited to the Prem. Given his talent, I think he struggles in the Bundesliga at times. I was happy when HSV signed Elia instead of him. Ironically I think this is why Jol decided he wanted to be manager and not coach at HSV, as Beiersdorfer wanted to sign Marin (and a CM who i can't remember) and Jol wanted Elia and De Zeeuw.

Because there is a link and that is how this forum works. We even discussed David Villa. This link was from before the world cup so it has nothing to do with that performance. To be fair we are and have always been linked to players above the level we are at, i.e. those that will only ever play in the Champions League etc. Every season we get linked to players like Eto'o or Rivaldo etc.

I can't really agree about Ozil though. Yes he is a big talent and people have known about him for a couple of seasons, but I don't think he has the reputation where he is in the bracket of Ribery and Robben. The difference is that they have already tasted success, they have been in the spotlight and on the radar of big clubs for a while and are already being paid bucket loads, which instantly puts us out of range even with Champions League. But Ozil hasn't had the success or been on the radar of those big clubs for a long time and I doubt he is on such a huge wage considering he signed for Werder for 3million euros.

Whilst we might not be favourites to sign him I don't really think he will have a huge number of options that are better than us. Really in the mix to sign him I can see man utd (who don't seem to have shown much interest), arsenal, bayern, man city. Who else is really might move for him?

Could'nt have put it any better myself....

As for the deluded people on here who think Ozil is not good enough and are debating whos place he would take.... Its laughable!

Now we're talking about future World Star players not being good enough for us. Pretty sure Wenger sees him as a direct replacement for Fabregas and he has also been linked with Man Utd after he single handedly ripped England apart in the Uefa Under-21 Championship final.

Taken from Telegraph:

Some players have done well out here, prospects like James Milner, Kieran Gibbs, Micah Richards and Jack Rodwell, but England boasted nobody of the class of Ozil, born in Gelsenkirchen, itself the scene of past English pain. Germany’s No 10 ran the game. England’s No 10 ran around. Mark Noble is an honest, hard-working pro, but he lacks the technical expertise or vision of Ozil.
England need to nurture such match-winners, players who are about more than athleticism and hard work. “He’s an outstanding player, who takes up intelligent positions,’

I think its unfair to compare Ozil at 21 years of age to Ribery 27 and Robben 26 who have a lot of experience behind them. Going on current form I think he looks a better than Ribery with the potential to be better than both!

Why even talk about anything. Why don't we all just shut the fuck up and go to Chat and talk about politics.

or maybe we could talk about players who we can realistically sign.

Which I called Ozil. I said Elia and because "A PLAYER" said he wasn't going anywhere....he became off limits to even speak of. Why open this thread, hell this whole fucking fourm, at all? If anybody mentions a player, its either a) he's a wanker...fuck him. or B) He's too good for us....fuck you! Why are you even here? By your own admitting, shouldn't you be in the Carlton Cole thread? FFS! :bang:

It's not really a case of signing the best players but signing the right players. Real Madrid are an example that you can't just buy world class players and worry about where they fit in after. The same could be said of Man City. Neither team won anything last season, and although real Madrid did well in the League, they have a lot of World Class players who made that possible.

As for being realistic, well it's a long shot, but no more a long shot than Klinsmann was. Plus I think we have as much chance as Arsenal have of signing him. Out of the 2 teams, we're the ones moving forward atm.
