Tottenham are considering a move for Roma’s American midfielder Michael Bradley, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Italian giants have recently completed the signing of Belgian midfielder Radja Nainggolan, which could see Bradley made surplus to requirements.

The 26-year-old is currently behind the likes of Kevin Strootman, Miralem Pjanic and Daniele De Rossi in the pecking order at the Stadio Olimpico, and could look for a January move following the arrival of Nainggolan.

This could alert Tottenham and their Technical Director Franco Baldini, who took Bradley to Rome in 2012.

Bradley has previously played in the Premier League, where he had an unsuccessful loan spell with Aston Villa.

London rivals Fulham have also been linked with a move.

Tottenham could be in the market for a new midfielder, following the news Etienne Capoue could be on his way out of White Hart Lane, less than six months after signing.

He wants/needs playing time. Wont get that here. If he goes anywhere but Toronto, it'll probably be Sunderland.

Sad that top USMNT players are going back to/staying in MLS instead of staying in Europe where the better competition is, where the fuck is the ambition and the drive to get better? All I know, I feel for the lads at the January camp right now. Klinsmann is probably not a happy camper. He wanted MLS to improve its quality and youth systems, but I dont think he wanted them to start doing it towards the end of the WC cycle. Guy probably has steam coming from both both ears. He is likely FUMING right now.

Few contract details to iron out, then he is a done deal in Toronto. He'll be making much more money than anyone is willing to offer him in Europe.

Like 5 times as much money. Competing at a higher level is great and all, but there is something to be said for waking up every morning on top of a big pile of money with many beautiful ladies.

It really is a shame that now MLS is forking up money to bring the top US players home. I guess its good for the league, but in a world cup year, it is terrible for American soccer. It would be better for all parties if they waitied until after the European season to bring guys back to North America. Top americans playing in better leagues and facing better quality players in their own squad to gain their squad places is better for their development and gets them used to the quality they will face in the World Cup, especially with this group. Further America goes in the WC, gets recognition among Americans who do not normally follow soccer. Then when you announce that players such as Bradley or Dempsey are coming back to MLS, it will get those fans to follow your league since it is the home league. There is so much more potential that way

There was supposedly late interest from Bundesliga clubs. That would have been great for the US, as it gets Bradley used to Germany, and gives the US side another player with experience against German competition besides Jones, Johnson, Brooks and Chandler.

Funnily enough, Bradley wants playing time before the WC. He would have gotten more playing time at Roma from now until May then he would at Toronto from March until May. If he truly wanted more PT then he would have gotten by staying at Roma, he would have waited for a move to England, Spain or Germany. He also probably would have gotten a week or 2 off before camp to recover by staying in Europe which would have been great too for fitness. For his sake, I hope Toronto loans him to a European club until March.

As anyone can pretty much tell, I couldnt give a shit about MLS right now. The only thing I care about football wise besides Spurs is my national team. I want American soccer to be among the top footballing countries in the world, but I would much rather the climb up to start after the WC instead of right before the WC.

He's married so he wont be getting with any beautiful ladies besides his wife, who is pretty good looking.

Damn.

We really need more midfielders.
Well, according to the incredibly reliable Daily Mirror/Daily Mail, Paulinho is off to Madrid, Capoue is off to Napoli, Sandro is off to Roma and we might sell Dembele...

I hate the media.

Too bad, as he'd be perfect for our current setup. As yank said, outright sucks the best American players are headed to the MLS, especially the one I view as our essential player.

Good for him! I think as fans we forget that being a pro in soccer at the end of the day is just a job. If someone offered you more money to do less work and thus allowing you to spend more time with those you love, i am sure we would all take it.

Bit strange though, he's probably the best American player, should be at a top side.

He's a fantastic player, the only worldie for me in the American squad. Bit unfortunate he's at a club that has stockpiled some of the best holding central midfielders in Europe within the last year, because I feel he'd start at 90-95% of Big Five European clubs.

Plain and simple, when he's with the American squad, they tend to win. When he's absent, they lose more often than not. Their record-setting win streak this summer is literally book-ended with Bradley injuries. Thumped by Belgium -> Bradley returns -> beat Germany -> win 11 more in a row including at Bosnia-Herzegovina -> Bradley is hurt in warmups in Costa Rica -> lose to Costa Rica. Simple math really. Guy belongs in a top side in Europe.

I think the MLS has decided now is the time to push for becoming a more competitive respectable league. Bringing back American stars like Dempsey and Bradley now means that the hype around the World Cup will generate a lot of domestic interest in the MLS. More interest means more fans and bigger sponsorship and TV money. I think they'll take that and keep luring in more players like Bradley who could start for competitive European teams. Obviously that's not a sustainable strategy for building up the league but it could improve a lot in the short term, which would also help a lot of the academies as their players will see better competition. The MLS definitely doesn't plan on being a development/retirement league forever, and I think this is part of the plan to improve that image.
