£10 million is a very good amount. Sad to see Daws go, he was a solid CB and a potential captain but for that amount of money and the fact we have Kaboul, Vertonghen and Caulker on our books, I don't think we'll ever really regret letting him go. He's going on 29 too.

Good luck Daws!

[This is assuming that he's been sold for £10million, if it's £5.5 million, I won't be so happy!]

Will be sad to see him go he's a real pro but lets be honest we've got enough central defenders with Kaboul/Vert/Caulker/Gallas do we really need a 5th choice on the sort of wages Dawson and Bassong are/were on? No other team in the top 10 of the league had as many premiership quality CB's as us. Add to that Bongani is still officially ours so it makes sense to trim and add in areas we really need.

Just a shame it's Daws I have loads of respect for him, loved the bollocking he gave Sandro last season don't see that often. But from a playing point of view out of everyone except maybe Gallas (no sell on value we probably want the money), IMO he and Bassong were the ones to cash in on.

As much as I like him, again - not the best. No room for sentiment if we really want to make the next step up. We need to keep improving and he's one that can be improved upon.

I think I'd be feeling quite hard done by if I was Michael Dawson right now, I don't think this is a good move for us either, given that it is a position we struggle to fill sometimes. I'm not sure we'll find any better out there, and I think with Bassong off too we would need a replacement, time really not on our side for that, let's be fair.

9m quid for Dawson? fuckin hell. He is good though and love the guy. We constanly harp on about loyalty from players yet we dont really give much do we. Dawson was always gutsy and all bloody and thunder i loved that. We will have four Central Defenders which I dont think is sufficient especially when one is a 19 yr old (around that) and the other is a 35 yr old injury prone defender. Whats gonna happen next summer then in CD when we will only have three - i doubt gallas will be here.

Then again there is no point in selling players if we dont do much with the cash.

BTW, didn't AVB recently tag Dawson as a potential Club / Team Captain??

Really loved Dawson, gave his all for the Club and comes across a very nice guy as well - pity there wasn't more of his type about in football.

I think he deserves to be starting week in week out, not for us anymore though - we've moved up a level now. Wish him all the very best, he's been here like seven years or something.

Weirdly, although I see this as the best move for both us and him (because what player wants to be sat twiddling their thumbs on the bench?), I actually feel a bit choked up. Because he was somebody who would play his heart out for us and there's not enough of those people around.

Huh, King and Daws gone in the space of a few weeks. It truly is a new era...

Was thinking about this earlier, and no matter Dawson's limitations....he has been superb playing along side Ledley over the years.

Can't believe we'll not be seeing either of these two again in the Lillywhite...

I do hope AVB's changes to suit his system works out, sorry to see him leave if this happens, but hey ho, another squad space and money to hopefully fill it with.

Sky Sports understands that Tottenham have accepted a bid of £9million from Queens Park Rangers for defender Michael Dawson. Stay tuned for more details.

It'll be a sad day when Daws leaves. If it necessary to sell him. I'd rather loan out Caulker so he can get first team football and keep Daws as 3rd/4th choice

I am inclined to agree with this. Having said that, Caulker looked great for Swansea last season and if he can keep that up I think he's a better player, or at least more suited to Villas-Boas' system, than what Dawson is at the moment. It's risky business shipping Dawson though, if we do I'm afraid we'll be plagued by injury worries. It's just one of those things you KNOW will happen if we reduce our squad to just 4 centre backs.

I really love Dawson though, would absolutely hate seeing him play for some other PL team. If he does decide to go, at least let it be a decent team, not bloody QPR.

I'm absolutely fucking gutted about Daws leaving. His passion, loyalty and leadership were unbelievable and he seemed like such a genuine, humble bloke. I'm gonna miss him. :(

At the same time though, I trust AVB and whatever decisions he makes. And you have to be honest, 9 million is a good price.
