If we have the money I would be looking to bring in Alex Scott from Bournemouth asap before is stock rises to far. It would relieve the creative pressure on Maddison. For teams that go defensive, it would be great to have both players creating opportunities.
Said that last week..would prefer him to Lo Celso

Not sure that Scott is much further along than Donley tbh.

I think with these two additions and with a fair wind, we’ve a chance of pinching the league title this season.

Think it’s too late for now - should have got him in the summer. I’d guess he’ll stay there for a bit longer now

I’m already giving this window an A- because of what we did and how quickly we did it. I think Werner is a very savvy signing, and he will give us something different off the left while Son is away. Dragusin looks like one for now and the future, but if nothing else he gives us legit cover for Romero and also could be a great weapon late in matches when we may have to absorb some more attacks or are looking to get a goal from set pieces/corners.

To turn this into an A+ window it’d be signing a guy like Lloyd Kelly and a CM while shifting PEH (I’m not kicking him out the door like others, but if we want a CM he will need to go), Perisic (wages) and Reguilon. I’d hold off on Gil unless we see a permanent/loan with obligation come through that we like.

To make this a full on pantry dropping, Randy ectoplasm, dynasty-creating window, we would sign a couple of young players on buy and loan back deals as we look to the summer. Thinking guys like Nusa, Bhardjhi, etc.

Sign some hot 18-year-old prospects from around the world, get them registered and loan them back, see where they are in two years, like with Udogie and Sarr.

Rinse, repeat.

No way they sell him 6 months after buying him.

It's a simplistic way of looking at it but I always look at whether we have two good options for each position or not.

It's simplistic because some players cover more than one position, and we will hopefully look at more than one system across a season, but for the sake of this thread, below is how I see the squad (assuming one position per player and not considering the 'youngsters'):

GK: Vicario, Forster
RB: Porro, Emerson
LB: Udogie, Reguilon, Sessegnon
CB: VdV, Romero, Dragusin, Davies
CM: Lolo, Bissouma, Sarr, Lo Celso, Hojberg, Skipp, Maddison
WF: Perisic, Solomon, Son, Werner, Deki, Gil, Johnson
ST: Richarlison, Veliz

Taking them position by position:

GK: Would prefer a back-up keeper who is more similar to Vicario in style, but otherwise sorted.

RB: Sorted

LB: Unless Ange can work wonders with Sessegnon, this looks like an area we need some depth.

CB: Ultimately it would be good to have a younger option than Davies, but he's shown this season that he is more than capable of being our 4th choice CB

CM: Four superb players and three who I don't think are good enough. Skipp, PEH and GLC to leave and arguably we could replace with one player and then look at the yoofs.

WF: We're very well set here. Gil and Perisic are probably surplus to requirements. If Werner doesn't work out then we may need to go looking again.

ST: Richy is doing the business right now and if he continues to do so for the rest of the season then this shouldn't be an area we need to look at. Veliz needs time and I'd prefer to give him minutes than bring in an alternative at the moment.

So overall I'd like to see:

Out: Forster, Reguilon, Perisic, Skipp, PEH, Lo Celso, Gil and Sessegnon (assuming he doesn't improve under Ange).

In: GK, LB, CM

Obviously not all going to happen this window and personally I'd be okay if we had our current squad for the rest of the season.

Perisic won’t leave (or play) - he is still injured.
There has been speculation that he might return to Croatia to recover with Hajduk Split*, as he's not going to be fit to play for us before his contract expires.

*That could be a realistic club for him to see out his career at, as he'll want to keep playing for Croatia and is unlikely to get too many offers from "big" clubs. He turns 35 next month.

Alex Scott has barely played for Bournemouth, why do people think he’s good enough for us?

I know he’s talented and a Spurs fan but come on. I feel like he’s being overrated.

Someone like Olise is the level we should be looking at

I’d love a couple of buy now play later deals in Nusa and Vermeeren. Kelly would round out our defence well. A home grown midfield option like Hackney would also be great but probably only if we can ship out Hobby and Skipp otherwise Donley et al face zip chance of minutes. In terms of what we can do for the first eleven right now though I think we are there. All eggs in the striker basket in the summer.

Hasn't he mostly been injured for them? That alone seems to fit in with our players this season 😂

More than happy as is but give me Kelly and Gallagher and it's probably our best ever season transfer-wise. Amazing how quickly a club's prospects can improve with proper recruitment and a bit of luck.

Yes, and… hasn’t our setup, so far shown that we don’t always have to go with the 60m option. Which is what they’d want for Olise. They seem to uncover players that may be as good, or better, or maybe just a tiny smigde below, but for half of the cost. Why pay the PL tax. If we don’t need to.

I love Richy. But the 60m we paid, was about 25m more than what we should have. But that’s what u need to do if buying from other PL clubs. We don’t have Man City money to throw around. We need to be creative and surgical.

Yeah I hear what you’re saying. We’ve gone that route with the likes of Jack Clarke I suppose.

Maybe we’ll have better luck with Ange. Udogie & Sarr are the examples, I guess there’s no reason why we can’t have similar success with Championship lads

Re: Alex Scott, quite a few responses.

IMHO he is much further along in his development than Donley (even though he is highly rated). 83 championship games, 6 prem. I would also say they play in very different positions.

He had been injured - correct. I think if he had played the first part of the season teams would be looking to sign him now. Look at his cameo against us.

Olise - that is a pipe dream. Man City, Liverpool will be fighting it out for him come the summer (£60+).

He just has a Harvey Elliot or Jack Grealish vibe to him and his price tag will only increase.
