Feel like I'm being really greedy, but Nusa, Vermeeren/Wharton and Lloyd Kelly would make this an incredible window. If we could get those in I'd be fine losing PEH, Gil, Sessegnon and LoCelso. I really like GLC but injury issues are just constant. I think those ins/outs would balance up fairly well financially if we can find buyers anywhere who aren't completely potless. I also know there's zero chance of all that happening!
Im still not sure if we need Kelly. I get the argument for getting him but I also don't see why Phillips can't take that last spot. Ether way I don't really see the need for him this window now that Radu is here. Royal and Davies should be able to cover that 4th CB role until summer one would hope. Then if we don't think Phillips is up to it we could get Kelly on a free.

As for GLC, still best case scenario for me is that the comes back and stays fit for the remainder of the season and thus warrants staying on beyond summer. After all we have had numerous players get hamstring injuries and it does seem to be part of the new training. I know that is optimistic at present considering his track record but ether way he is one of several players that we need to reassess come summer but I certainly wouldn't be moving him on now. The others I agree with you on. If Nusa joins this window then Gil has to be moved on, if he doesn't come now (which is more likely id imagine) then i'm not too worried if Gil wants to stay and try and prove himself.

I want to give a shout out to whoever at Spurs is getting the outs done. Sanchez, Lloris, Perisic, Dier, Spence, Reguilion et al. That feels very different to the past and like we have a plan. Well done to all concerned 👏

My other thought is about our gaffer. Whenever I see Ange watching a match or training, he’s studying everyone. Just watching it all and storing it away. In my mind, the guy is assessing now. Who can he utilise in any way? Who not? What’s working? What’s missing? He’s a recycler - he doesn’t get rid of anyone if he’s useful, but he’s ultimately all about the Big Picture. He’s honestly top notch. Thanks, Ange 💪🏻

Somewhere in a dark parallel universe, we’ve just had our twelfth ITK update on Todibo, clubs still about 15m apart on valuation but we’re hoping there’s some movement by deadline day, if not we’ll hang on to Dier and there’s been some growing rumors of a deadline day special for Jesse Lingard.

Just caught up with SSN Transfer Talk and they're talking about the window spend compared to last January which was almost £800 million compared to £47 million so far in this one and, though they didn't mention it, it occurred to me that we are responsible for half of that even if we don't count Werner(loan) and hopefully we'll increase that in the next couple of days.
We really do seem to have the field to ourselves.

Yep, could Levy’s stewardship have brought us to a completely positive ‘perfect storm’ for our rebuild?

See what not doing a Leeds does for clubs that take football finances seriously?

I like Mackenzie but he has probably looked a bit too much on the shots taken stats rather than the actual outputs for Gallagher.

2 goals in his last 49 league games for Chelsea is hardly 'right up there for goal scoring'. I know he scored quite a few for Palace, but arguing for goal outputs as one of the key reasons for signing him doesn't really make sense to me. Hojbjerg, Bentancur, Lo Celso have all outscored him in the last two seasons, and Sarr have this year in his first season when starting.
Rob Mackenzie isn't somebody who will look as Statistics and take them literally, he will dig a lot deeper.

Sorry, wrong bloke, left the articles anyway.

It's Jon MacKenzie of Tifo that is being referred to.

Gallagher is an odd one. Does he really start over any of Bissouma, Bentancur, Sarr or Maddison? I’d say no. However, would he add better depth than Hojbjerg, Skipp and Lo Celso, I’d say so.
Are we really going to pay £40-60m (depending on what you believe) for a squad depth player.
That said, the talk at the end of the summer window was that Ange had identified Maddison and Gallagher as two midfield upgrades, and the way he has turned our team round you’d want to give him some more of his own picks.
Reality, unless Chelsea offer a deal that really works for us, I see us going for someone else.

I think what we need to understand is that due to the way we play we will be making use of our squad more than most teams due to the amount of energy required from our players every game. That means we need quality options on the bench who can play 20-30 mins at the end of a match without any significant drop-off in quality. This is required even if we don't have injuries. Gallagher may not be a guaranteed starter but he would probably play in 30 games a season, some starting, some from the bench. We currently have nobody in the squad that offers what Sarr does in terms of his running and Gallagher would give us this so I can totally see why he is a player we would be interested in. Plus he is HG which helps of course.

If we're going after a midfielder you'd think it would be someone who can replicate the fluidity that Bentacur can bring to the midfield, it's not really the strength so much of Bissouma and Sarr.

Been thinking that a DM might be as pressing a need as a goal-scoring WF come next season to really unleash this team. Bissouma's good but you look at how complete that back-four looked yesterday and Yves is two years older than the oldest and probably more unpredictable than all of them. You look at how Rodri was able to break up play yesterday whilst also being a superb technician and you realise that's the kind of DM you need to be the best around - they had Fernandinho before him, Liverpool had Fabinho, Barca had Busquets, Real Casemiro etc.

I think we've got the manager and about a dozen players I could see being part of a squad that wins titles; the main three figures I think we're missing (and I'm not ruling out players stepping up to feel these gaps) are a world class DM, a goal-scoring WF and a great CF.

No need to panic, here. We are in good shape going into the 2nd half, and I’d argue if we can get guys to stay fit we are in the best position for Top 4 in comparison to our rivals for the final spot (Newcastle, United, Villa, etc.). Obviously I think the aim should be higher given it’s all we have to focus on now, but we really did well to address the major needs already in the window.

I guess the meltdown on Twitter on missing out on Nusa is down to two things, no one likes losing a player to a smaller club and we're probably further along in the teams development than we thought we would be at this stage in the season. The fact we're in amongst it at the top end of the table and most of the major gaps in the squad have been filled, it makes missing out on what could the the final piece of the puzzle feel worse.

I think we're in good shape and this has been a decent window so far.
