We all remember last summer, when Rooney was saying he was leaving Man Utd. The difference now, is that Modric has a very lengthy contract with us. And anyone can see that Chelsea are just doing their best to unsettle our man.

My optimism dims a little (going back to the Rooney scenario) It was a combination of Chairman and Manager. You know Sir Alex wouldn't take no nonsense, but Harry.....................?

I applaud Levy for the manner in which it is being dealt with, but I think this will be the true test of our ability to break the top 4 proper.

The timing is terrible, as the window has barely opened, and the on-off situation will go on for a painfully long time. But I believe if we can hang on to him, it will actually be a defining part of the future of the club. Might sound drastic, but with Berba going to Man Utd, if we dont keep our stars, we really stand little chance of signing any. And I trust Levy in all he is doing, but just hope that he is able to pull off a deal greater than VDV (and upfront)

I'd applaud Levy and Redknapp more if they focussed less on the snazzy soundbites to please the press and appease the fans, and actually signed some sodding strikers.

You can't tell me that Modders threatening to leave has made them think "oh... maybe we should sign someone" - we've needed strikers for a good 18 months. Yes the window has just opened but we have had 4 windows in which to hammer out some deals or pre-deals, and yet nothing.

HR can say the club is ambitious - prove it. Sign a big name, do it in the next week, and the rest speaks for itself.

The talk talk talk and no action is getting tiresome - the fans know it, Luka Modric knows it, and Levy and Redknapp would do well to notice also.

It comes down to Levy I guess. Modric seems like he's been a bit of a dick by pushing for the move so obviously. Lacks a lot of class. However Harry clearly doesn't want him to go, and is making all the noises of someone who wants to keep him.

Levy coming out with his "not for sale" statement is the one thing that gives me confidence. This is a make or break situation for Levy...either he sticks by his words and massively wins over the doubters, as well as showing to other clubs/players that he is a strong chairman....or he does what all small teams do and sells without needing to because they feel pressured into it...

We'll see. Levy has the chance to send out a real statement of intent here. Alternatively he can signal the end of his reign, and the ambition of the club, by selling Modric and advertisng our availability as a club currently run by a bunch of people who couldn't give a fuck about success.

Modric has good relationship with Levy, since Daniel agreed the terms for Luka transfer to us in his house
but this could be decent way for Luka to force a move without trasnfer request if we received big offer, which i'm still sure there are arrangment between both even Luka stayed for another year.
Berba did the same but since we failed to reach CL, there are no way Berba can wait for another season and Levy decided to cash in since there is 2 years left in his contract.

the other man who deserves a praise for this, Harry Redknapp, he just don't want to sell him, and he already stated that he would resign if LuKa or Bale sold, he is honest, he already DID his what he saif we he resigned from Portsmouth when they appointed DoF ahead of him. Redknapp is the one who deserves our love and trust.

do you think it's easy for Redknapp to take money for Modric and Redknapp resign ? then how we can attrack big names ? never mind the likes of Bale & Sandro could ask for a move.

Thanks god we've Harry Redknapp.
