Sorry Donki (if that is your name!)
but there comes a point where money pales into insignificance when a sale is detrimental to the future of the club, and if we are not already perceived as MU feeders this will mean that for the next 10 years any player who stands above the mediocrity we were not so long ago accustomed to will automatically be linked to them.

whilst this may help in us signing some good players using us as a stepping stone to MU that's not what i want for my club.

I totally agree with you, I want Modric to stay exactly where he is for the next number of years. All my mates are Manure fans and it sickens me that this could be happening again and I am just praying that Modders is different to Carrick and Berba. I honestly believe that Levy wont want to sell... up to a certain point, there will be a magic number that if any club offers Levy will have to say yes, its the bussiness unfortuneatley.

It is scarey because Fergie is going about it the same way he did with Carrick and Berba, its not very subtle. There is the public praise and speaking out at press conferences etc the same as there was with Carrick and Berba. Providing Modric sticks to what he is saying and doesn't get mystry phone calls promising him cars, houses blah blah I dont think Levy will sell unless its a LARGE amount around £40 mill.

As you say Modic is our best player and if we are to continue to push for top 4 we need young players like him who we can build the team around, just hope he is still here come september.

They can have him for £35 million. I'd prefer a centre mid that can score goals. £8 million for Parker and £10 million for Charlie Adam. That leaves us £17 million in the bank for another striker.

Compared to his usual 100% committed comments which can only be read one way, these sound like his head is starting to turn :s Might turn into a situation where he is edging to leave but we say no in a similar way to fabregas last season

Its up to the club to show him (and others) that we mean business.

From his comments and Levy's comments, I am confident Luka will not be sold this summer. Typical media, making something out of nothing.

I don't know how people can see this interview as a good sign.

People are quick to have a go at Redknapp when he decides not to come out publically to deny or confirm reports in the media. But when Modric comes out, publically, and says that he would consider a move if the deal was right, people see it as a good sign because he says he is happy?

Redknapp has said time and time again that he has a good squad, wants to win the league at Spurs and these years have been the best of his career, but people are treating similar situations with different views , how fickle is that?

bottom line is he's got 5 years left on his contract which makes it a completely different situation to Berbatov and Carrick

so manure can fuck off, everytime we get close to challenging the top 4 they tap up our best players and I'm getting sick and tired of it.

we're in a healthy financial position and with a couple of quality strikers we could get right back into the CL next season

The pertinent line in all that is if an offer comes in which is good for me and Tottenham etc...

Wake up people that is pretty much a polite come and get me plea.

Modders would be happy enough to stay at Spurs, but I think if United etc come in with a serious bid and package for him he'll be happier leaving.

United are going to do it again, I cant fucking believe this...well I can we didn't get fourth when we needed too.

I don't think this is the 'media bullshit' that some are making it out to be. I wasn't exactly jumping for joy reading those quotes.

If need be, tell him personally that we could potentially entertain a bid for him next summer if that's what it will take for him to be here next season. After reading that he's not gonna want to be without CL for 2 seasons and it would be hard to keep him here anyway I would have thought, but we at least need him for next season. Then do our utmost to build a Champions League qualifying team this summer and try to make sure it won't come to that.

Exactly. We need a big name striker to sign during June.

That will assure the players that we'll be competing for Champions League again next year.

This, although I hope it doesn't happen obviously

Modric could have clearly come out and said I don't want to leave and will be playing at WHL next season.

Why would he say he'll consider an offer, if he was more than happy to stay at Spurs?

Who knows.

A couple of weeks ago he did an article saying all he cares about is football, he loves London and Spurs are the team for him.

Its all bollocks really

Id rather sell bale than modric, remember when we sold carrick, we couldn’t link the play from back to front. Look how shit Liverpool became when they sold Alonso. Modric must not be sold.

I agree with this to a degree. People get touchy on these boards when anything "negative" is written and are quick to dismiss things that they would rather not wish to happen. At the end of the day everyone is reading what they WANT to read into these types of articles. When i first read the article it sounded to me like Luka was leaving the door open for a move.

We can all be comfortable in that he is happy at spurs, but this is hardly a statement dismissing any potential move. I hope that he stays for more than another season, but we shouldn't be getting so dismissive of such articles. There may be something to worry about after all??

what proper decent striker out there wud come to club when all they do is sell off their best players.. thats no ambition whatever way u want to look at it.

getting really pissed off with spurs myself. we talk the talk but we are full of it. go out and sign two big name players and see what modric says then! actions louder than words. but we wont and this will fester until end of augest until united get their man! wait n see

Modric is saying that he would leave with those comments, of course he is.

Its all about how much we get now, because it will happen. United always get what they want and the fact the Modric is talking about offers, after just signing a new contract recently (?) makes me feel rather uncomfortable...actually it makes me feel sick.

The ugly truth is that we arn't at the top of footballing food chain and after failing to get fourth, on the back of some great peformances which Modric has been central too...its not surprising is it?

The League should always of been the priority....we'll pay the price for that now.

I wouldn't sell him full stop but these people saying £30-35m etc is surely just being stupid. Fans players of the season I believe, heart of the midfield, our best midfielder in the centre in general. Carroll goes for £35m after 6 months of Premiership football. If we were to sell which at no point should selling be considered unless Luka himself asks to leave the club then we don't even respond to offers under £40m.

Apparent suiters United and Chelsea are looking at him as replacements for Scholes and Lampard respectivly. He's that good and they know it.
