Sorry disagree. Maybe I would have felt that way before having kids, but now weekend watching is not always possible for me, so a nice game when the kids are in bed with a couple of beers is perfect bliss.

I am American and I fucking HATE MNF.

First the International break, and now this. Sucks.

I like the original MNF as it's a nice way to ease into the rest of the week, but Prem MNF definitely blows for us Americans as it's smack dab in the the middle of our workdays. If I were European though, I'm sure I'd like it as MNF has always been a great way to take the edge off after the first day of the school/work week.

I agree, have to say (and risk a few disagrees here) that I would prefer JJ being our representation over redknapp. Been slightly impressed with him on match of the day!

Can't see sky using a MOTD pundit for their advert.....

It's a pain getting to the game after work and worse getting home and then up again at 6 the next morning. We better win 6 or 7 nil and play some Brasilian style football to make up for it...

I really hate Monday night football.

Especially when we're involved. It's just a pointless bean counter.

The only time I can recall a Monday night football worked was when we were 4 nil down at half time and we came back to win ( it was a victory) and scored 4 goals to level a match. But it felt like a victory for once.

We are not Americans. MNF. Isn't part of our psyche.

End it.

Get used to it, they're going to bring Friday nights to the premiership too soon. They're doing as much as possible to get around the 3 o'clock Saturday television ban so they can make a few more bucks

I quite like MNF, takes the edge off of the usual shitstorm that is Mondays.

One of those weird things that you simply can't quantify isn't it ? Hate not having a game at the weekend but if you hate Mondays it's a nice sweetener. It's also live and the only game on so coverage tends to be better.

I'm on way back from Spain right now and I often manage to nause up so that I struggle to see Sunday games. So Monday is very useful

I hate it.

It's become a pure money making capitalist product.

When Uraguay are better internationally you have to wonder who is the mugs. Different coloured shirts kicking a ball around.

But thats because countries like Serbia, Uruguay and Croatia have better facilities

England have never really been that good and even the last time we had a good tournament from start to the knockout point was arguably in 1970. Coaching needs to get with the times and so does the attitude

We have been serious contenders, bar the 70's hiatus, up to 2004

We could have, arguably made made the top 4 in each tournament and from there it's an 'on its day' argument.

And are you wilfully forgetting 90 and 96?

In 1990 we were poor in the group stages before Robson made tactical changes in the Egypt game iirc, we came alive in the knockout rounds in that tournament

As for 1996, that probably was our best performance from start to finish since the 70's.

Don't get me wrong the 90's bar Keegan and Taylor regimes in all was probably our best decade since the 60's. Since Sven I started to hate england and the way they play

We were poor against Switzerland and poor against Scotland and Gazza's goal came directly after Scotland should have equalised (and up until that point Gazza was having a stinker!).

We played Holland off the park after we scored our first goal (prior to that Holland were playing us off the park and we could have easily been two or three goals down!). Sheringham was MOTM that day and was absolutely magnificent that day.

We were very lucky against Spain. They outplayed us and if my memory serves me correctly either scored a perfectly good goal that was ruled offside or had a stonewall penalty claim turned down.

We were brilliant against Germany and deserved to win.

Ironically the above was almost a mirror of Italia 90. We were dreadful against Eire and Egypt. Played well against Holland. Made hard work of Belgium. Got extremely lucky against Cameroon and then deserved to win against Germany!

I was at Wembley that day. Great memories, but no we weren't particularly good. Pretty much defined by that one-minute period with the missed penalty and Gazza's wonder goal.

Knowing our luck it'll get to around 5pm and it'll be 'Is the game cancelled because of the fog'. You'll have Graham Poll and the other one (the Bald chap) telling us what the rules are about playing in fog. And that it's unsafe for the spectators to walk in the fog and that Villa are stuck on the North Circular because of the fog.
